North Korea ready to use nukes against the United States: Kim Jong Un

North Korea can be smashed by South Korea alone,in a conventional war. Nuclear weapons aside,their tanks,vehicles and equipment are laughable. Who knows how many will desert to the South if a war starts. Their Air Force and Navy are bad and the it's only their nuclear missiles and China that keeps the U.S. and South Korea from attacking them.

In 2010, South Korea and North Korea had a direct exchange of fire on Yeonpyeong Island.

South Korea's K9 was defeated by the North Korea with old-fashioned towed artillery during the artillery battle on Yeonpyeong Island.

By the time the South Korean fighters joined the battlefield, the North Korean artillery had moved and hid.

With all due respect, there is a big gap between the quality of South Korean soldiers and that of North Korean soldiers. If China and the USA do not join the battlefield, the South Koreans may not be able to win.

And what happened during the gunboat incidents? 🙄

Why gloat and issue statements…..should’ve done it already…..

Keeping the internal welfare-based society intact?
Are you talking about North Korea? Welfare-based society? lol

I am indeed. Free housing, free basic food, free healthcare, free education, probably free public transport and other things. And no taxes and no stock market. Found this post on Quora from what seems to be an Indian girl :

Not sure about free housing but everyone has free healthcare of the best quality the country's resources and technology can provide. Not just that, they have free education system where there are easily thousands of computers in use to educate the children.

These are the things which are there in DPRK and not in most others and this is supported by a girl from DPRK I know.
-> free schools at every locality
-> free universities and colleges
-> free libraries in every locality
-> free insurance
-> free healthcare
-> free houses (not sure)
-> free food upto the given ration ration (it has trade sanctions which prevent it from purchasing fertilizer and seeds for more yeild plus it lacks enough arable land)
-> free access to intranet(their own internet) and internet(for educational institutions)
->universal literacy
-> universal employment
-> cheap electricity (however up until recently it was very irregular because of energy sanctions on them by Capitalist countries)
-> zero taxes

How does the government manage to do it all?
It's because unlike a Capitalist economic system where the surplus you generate goes to a capitalist who then buys all sorts of cars and mansions from it for his own use, your surplus goes for the benefit of the entire community.
Now this is unlike in the "democratic" world and the "Islamic" Emirate of Afghanistan where everything costs money, including parental love and if you don't "Show me the money" you can go die and where the governments extort tax on many things including income in an already wage-slave dog-eat-dog environment where the citizen has to pay for everything. :)

North Korea has reached the early '80s while South Korea is in 2022.

Well, I don't think North Koreans who have now reached the early 80s suicide like the advanced South Koreans who are now in 2022 :
Suicide in South Korea occurs at the 12th highest rate in the world. South Korea has the highest suicide rate in the OECD.[2][3][4] In 2012, suicide was the fourth-highest cause of death.[5]

The high suicide rates compared to other countries in the developed world is exacerbated by the large amount of suicide among the elderly. One factor of suicide among elderly South Koreans is due to the amount of widespread poverty among senior citizens in South Korea, with nearly half of the country's elderly population living below the poverty line. Combined with a poorly-funded social safety net for the elderly, this can result in them committing suicide not to be a financial burden on their families, since the old social structure where children looked after their parents has largely disappeared in the 21st century.[6][7] As a result, people living in rural areas tend to have higher suicide rates. This is due to extremely high rates of elderly discrimination, especially when applying for jobs, with 85.7% of those in their 50s experiencing discrimination.[8] Age discrimination also directly correlates to suicide, on top of influencing poverty rates.[9] Suicide is the number one cause of death among South Koreans aged 10 to 39.

Carbon monoxide poisoning

In recent years amid the rise of suicide rates, yeontan burning has been used as a method of suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning.[29]

Bridge jumping

Bridge jumping has also been used as a method of suicide. The Mapo Bridge in Seoul, is considered a suicide bridge,[30][31] locally known as "Suicide Bridge" and "The Bridge of Death".[32][33][34][35][36][37][38] South Korean authorities have tried to counter this by calling the bridge "The Bridge of Life" and posting reassuring messages on the ledges.[39]
All those Hyundai cars and KPop amount to nothing really when South Korean citizens keep suiciding. :)

So you people actually believe that North Korea can defeat South Korea in a conventional war?

But labor camps and death squads for insulting the Great Leader is of course,better in your opinion? 🙄

If China and the USA do not join the war and North Korea does not use nuclear weapons. I think South Korea has a better chance of winning, but North Korea also has the possibility of winning.

So basically you're saying it's 50-50.

I wish there were labor camps in the "Democratic world". There a hundreds of millions of irrationals and criminals who need time to reassess their life and their non-contribution to human justice, harmony and advancement.

Define defeat. Defeat in what sense exactly? What are the goals of such a hypothetical war?

You annihilate the vast majority of enemy formations and force the rest to retreat or surrender. Going back to the status quo or signing a peace treaty with regime change or completely unify the country.

Dude, pick one.
Unifying the country and keeping the status quo are completely different objectives.

Can North Korea damage the South Korean economy and infrastructure beyond repair for more than a decade? Yes.
Can North Korea occupy some border territories of South Korea at the cost of a high number of casualties? Probably.
Can North Korea unify the Koreas? LOL

The Last time when Koreans were fighting a civil war without foreign interventions, troops of south Korea mass surrendered to the north. South Vietnam was better equipped with US weapons and trainings, they still lost their civil war sooner than anyone expected. Communists are die hard fighters, ask Indians, their government has been fighting Maoists for almost a century, still can't manage a decisive win.

Why in every Communists victory they suffer huge number of casualties compared to losing side
