Non-Filers Allowed to Buy Cars up to 1300cc Engine Capacity

The government today has announced the second mini-budget for fiscal year 2019. According to which non-filers are now allowed to purchase new cars up to 1300cc engine capacity. However the Finance Minister said the government is going to increasing the tax ratio for non-filers who purchase new vehicles.

Non-filers of tax returns make up nearly 60% of car buyers in Pakistan. Since they were barred from purchasing new cars, the local auto industry suffered tremendous decline in sales. Now that the non-filers are allowed to buy cars, they can only opt for 1300cc or below vehicles.

Additionally, in the previous amendment, a 20% federal excise duty was imposed on imported cars and SUVs of engine capacity exceeding 1800cc. Now in order to further discourage the import of luxury cars and 4x4s, it is proposed to enhance the rate of excise duty from 20% to 25%, for SUVs/ 4x4s up to 3000cc and to 30% for cars exceeding 3000cc.

the smart move would be to allow them to purchase the cars and then haul them before a court to explain sources of income

Buy a 1300 cc car then upgrade the engine . Or Buy a Higher end car and get it marked as 1300 CC, pay rest in cash.
