KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that with the support of the federal government and armed forces, the law and order situation in Sindh has been controlled to a great extent and now Sindh is a peaceful province.

The chief minister said this while speaking to US Ambassador David M. Hale, who called on him along with US Consul General in Karachi Brian Heath and John T. Kennedy here at CM House on Tuesday.

“We, the people of Sindh, are very much liberal and no one from the inhabitants of Sindh is involved in terrorism. All terrorists are coming here from outside, but we are actively fighting them and made remarkable achievements in this regard,” the chief minister added.

He said that the federal government and the armed forces had performed their best in northern areas and the Sindh government did its best in Sindh to fight terrorism.

The chief minister said: “We need latest equipment, arms and detective gadgets and recommend the US to join us in the fight against terrorism and share its expertise, latest equipment so that we could eliminate the remaining handful terrorists from our soil.”

He also invited US investors to come forward and invest in Sindh.

The US ambassador appreciated the efforts of Pakistan and Sindh governments for fighting against terrorism.

    Meeting with governor

US Ambassador David Hale also called on Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad at Governor House on Tuesday.

He was accompanied by US Consul General in Karachi Brian Heath.

A statement issued by the spokesman for Governor House said that bilateral relations, investment, on-going situation in the region and other important matters were discussed at the meeting.

The governor said American investors should benefit from potential of Karachi and invest here.

SHIKARPUR: Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that PPP believes in positive politics and the country’s integrity and is doing its best to improve the socio-economic conditions in the province through a judicious use of all available resources.

Speaking at a meeting of the party’s divisional chapter at Kot Durrani in Garhi Yasin taluka late on Monday evening, Mr Shah said that the PPP had never resorted to victimising its opponents. Instead, he added, it adopted and advocated the policy of reconciliation with all its rivals to strengthen the democratic system.

The chief minister said that his government took appropriate measures to restore peace in Karachi and other parts of the province. Besides, he added, it contained unemployment by providing jobs and livelihood to thousands of youths. He rejected opposition parties’ claim that the PPP had failed to ensure good governance in the country and Sindh and accused them of creating a situation where the government could not execute public welfare programmes and implement people-friendly policies. He said his government planned development and progress of all areas, including those dominated by anti-PPP parties, but the opposition leaders were not extending their cooperation. He urged them to fulfil their national responsibility by facilitating uplift schemes within their respective areas in the interest of the general public.

The chief minister lauded the role of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Gen. Raheel Sharif, the federal government, Rangers and police in the war against terrorism and observed that the National Action Plan and Operation Zarb-i-Azb were proving effective.

He recounted achievements by the law-enforcement agencies and noted that many outlaws were arrested and convicted by anti-terrorism and other courts.

Mr Shah shrugged off any threat to the PPP from the proposed grand alliance of opposition parities saying that such alliances also emerged during era of [PPP founder chairman] Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto but failed to cause any harm the PPP.

He also ruled out any possibility of the imposition of governor’s rule in Sindh. If it was resorted to without any justification, the people of Sindh would strongly resist it, he warned.

Earlier, the chief minister addressed the party’s public meeting in Kot Durrani.

Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durani, Mehtab Ali Dahar, Gul Mohammed Khan Jakhrani, Advocate Naseer Ahmed Lodhi and other party activists also spoke.

KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Tuesday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain and 20 other senior party leaders over anti-Pakistan statements.

The leaders were accused of inciting violence and delivering anti-Pakistan speeches. The MQM leaders had attended a public gathering and listened to Altaf Hussain’s outburst against security agencies on July 12 this year.

Farooq Sattar, Wasim Akhtar, MQM parliamentary leader in Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izharul Hasan, Khushbakht Shujaat, Rasheed Godil and Qamar Mansoor are among other senior party leaders against who warrants have been issued.

The ATC also directed that the accused be arrested and produced before the court on January 2.

Earlier in September, the ATC had issued non-bailable arrest warrants for MQM chief Altaf Hussain in the criminal intimidation case registered on the complaint of Colonel Tahir Mehmood of Sindh Rangers. In the FIR, Col Mehmood — who led the paramilitary force in the March 11 predawn raid at Nine Zero, the MQM headquarters in Karachi – maintained that Altaf in a television talk show threatened the officers who were part of the raiding team.

But its a reality , which we need to fight as a nation ?
If not , we are bound to hit another incident like Dhaka fall ?
Or maybe more then that , cause our nuclear power is never been liked by western powers .
