The Global Council of Indian Christians reported that police arrested pastors Lalithamma and Kadaur Devaki on allegations of creating communal disharmony and disturbing peace in Kadur taluk, Chickmaglur district.

The incident occurred on Sunday, June 6, after a group of men from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, who were accompanied by police, disrupted the worship service.

The police interrogated the pastors for about four hours, said GCIC. They are currently being held in Hassan jail.

"The police officers under pressure from the local MLA is believed to have foisted false charges under IPC 295 A against the helpless women," GCIC lamented.

The BJP-ruled Karnataka state has been witnessing an increase in anti-Christian violence. The GCIC recorded 72 attacks on Christians in the state last year.

A week before the latest incident, Hindu activists reportedly attacked a pastor accused him of forced conversions.

"The radicals belonging to RSS first manhandled Pastor Elisha Gangadhar and then dragged him all the way to the local police station," reported All India Christian Council.

"At the police station, the officers also ill-treated him alleging he was involved in forcible conversions in the area," AICC added.

The council condemned the attack on the pastor and sought immediate action against the miscreants.

Of the more than 52 million people in Karnataka, a little more than 1 million are Christians.

About 1,20,000 Indian women arrested - Instablogs
About 1,20,000 Indian women arrested

Close to 1,20,000 mothers and sisters have been arrested under charges of Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code, without any verification / investigation; just on a mere complaint, as these women were blood relatives of a MAN. Even the Colonial British Government took 10 years to arrest 5000 women (1937 – 47) but the Indian Government has arrested close to 24 times more women in just four years (2004-2007). The maximum women arrested by the British Government is 17000 in 1930 for Dandi, but the Indian Government under the pressure of National Commission for Women(NCW) and Women and Child Development Ministry (WCD) arrested 1,20,000 women in 4 years.

As per National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), in the year 2005, more than 22,64,000 crimes have been registered against men (which is 92.8% of total registered crimes), while crime against women is 1,55,000 approximately (which is 6.38% of total registered crimes) and yet the media never found it worth enough to create awareness about this. A really pathetic and callous approach.

But the question is whose life is in more danger in India, Men or Women? In fact as per the murder rates of USA and India, Indian women are 2 times safer than women in USA despite the presence of so called Dowry Deaths in India.

Rs.7200 Crore has been assigned to Women and Child Development Ministry in the current budget; a mere 25% more than the last budget. Why is not even a single rupee spent for men’s welfare when men contribute 82% of the total taxes in India? Even animals have welfare ministry, but WHY not for MEN?

Yeah the moral of the story is, in India you'll get away with killing 16,000 Indians scot-free. There's being harsh on criminals and there's not being able to protect your own citizens. Tough choice.

Pastor Shivanda Siddi, 45, was arrested while conducting worship service at Gnanodaya Assemblies of God Church, reported the Global Council of Indian Christians.

According to the advocacy group, about five people belonging to a Hindu extremist organization disrupted the service and began to physically attack the pastor.

"The radicals humiliated the pastor by tearing his clothes and beating him in front of the faithful. After beating the pastor for about half an hour, they called the police at Yellapur station," GCIC reported.

The pastor as well as seven women, including two girls aged 10 and 11, were reportedly arrested by the police.

GCIC reported that the pastor was "beaten up again by the radicals in front of the police officials."

After the intervention of GCIC, police released the women. However, the pastor was charged under Section 295 of the Penal Code and was subsequently sent to Sirsi jail.

Pastor Siddi has been ministering among tribals in Umachagi Village, Mundgod taluk, for the last five years.

The arrest comes just months after two other Assemblies of God pastors were attacked with iron rods by a group of unknown people in Karnataka. Pastor Shiju Kuriakose, 35, and Pastor Jayan, 30, had just finished praying when they were assailed.

So far in 2010, there have been 106 incidents of persecution in India and 37 have taken place in Karnataka, according to the Evangelical Fellowship of India's half-yearly report on major incidents of anti-Christian violence. Last year, there were at least 152 attacks on Christians.

There are an estimated 25 million Christians (about 2.3 percent of the population) in India. The majority of India’s population is Hindu.

Hmm, whats wrong with excecuting criminals?
It will be really shameful to discriminate, oppress, abuse, raping, murder people base on "CASTE", please have mercy on those poor "Untouchables" in India.

More than 160 million people in India are considered "Untouchable"—people tainted by their birth into a caste system that deems them impure, less than human. Human rights abuses against these people, known as Dalits, are legion. A random sampling of headlines in mainstream Indian newspapers tells their story: "Dalit boy beaten to death for plucking flowers"; "Dalit tortured by cops for three days"; "Dalit 'witch' paraded naked in Bihar"; "Dalit killed in lock-up at Kurnool"; "7 Dalits burnt alive in caste clash"; "5 Dalits lynched in Haryana"; "Dalit woman gang-raped, paraded naked"; "Police egged on mob to lynch Dalits".

"Dalits are not allowed to drink from the same wells, attend the same temples, wear shoes in the presence of an upper caste, or drink from the same cups in tea stalls," said Smita Narula, a senior researcher with Human Rights Watch, and author of Broken People: Caste Violence Against India's "Untouchables."Human Rights Watch is a worldwide activist organization based in New York.

India's Untouchables are relegated to the lowest jobs, and live in constant fear of being publicly humiliated, paraded naked, beaten, and raped with impunity by upper-caste Hindus seeking to keep them in their place. Merely walking through an upper-caste neighborhood is a life-threatening offense. Nearly 90 percent of all the poor Indians and 95 percent of all the illiterate

What would you do with people who poisoned kids with melamine for profit.

The problems is you do not know enough about China to tell us what our mistakes are and what does the location of an execution matter if it is humane. Is a fixed execution location morally superior than a mobile one?
