Tehran was proposing ‘a non-aggression pact’ with Gulf states

As tension in the region reaches an unprecedented level, Iran comes up with a rather bizarre proposal. On Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said his country was proposing ‘a non-aggression pact’ with the Gulf states.

Iran has come under the threat of a US attack. So Tehran has turned to its neighbours to help bail it out.

He probably expected the Gulf states to jump with joy and embrace his ‘generous proposal’. Or he might have thought that we are so naive that we would have faith in Tehran’s ‘good intentions’ following decades of direct and indirect aggression against the Gulf states and their interests.

All Zarif, the seemingly seasoned diplomat, has to do is look around the Arab world to see Iran’s trail of aggression.

In Yemen, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon, Iran supports militarily and financially extremist militias that undermine the security of the region. Iran uses those militias, such as Al Houthis in Yemen, Hezbollah in Lebanon and Al Hashd in Iraq as tools for its expansionist policies in the region and to launch terror strikes on Gulf states, the recent ones being the sabotage of oil tankers off the Fujairah coast and attacks on a Saudi oil pipeline.

No Mr Zarif. We are not buying your ‘nice neighbour’ routine. We will have to decline your invitation because historically the Gulf states never attacked Iran nor do they plan to attack it in the future.

The Gulf states have always been key players in promoting peace and prosperity in the region.

The Iranian regime meanwhile continues to call for the overthrow of Arab governments, sends its agents to spy, and sabotage, aiming to spread chaos in Gulf countries, such as Bahrain and Kuwait and more recently off Fujairah and in Saudi Arabia.

Nobody wants war in this region. But Iran should instead focus on its daunting internal problems which cannot be resolved by constantly fomenting aggression against our countries.

Mr Zarif, you cannot sweep the record of hostility by your country under the rug of a silly proposal. No thank you.

Iran will defend itself against any aggression -foreign minister

Baghdad - Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said on Sunday that Tehran would strongly defend itself against any military or economic aggression and called on European states to do more to preserve a nuclear agreement his country signed with them.

Speaking in a news conference in Baghdad with his Iraqi counterpart Mohammed Al Hakim, Zarif said his country wanted to build balanced relations with its Gulf Arab neighbours and that it had proposed signing a non-aggression pact with them.

Iraq stands with Iran and is willing to act as an intermediary between its neighbour and the United States, Hakim said, adding that Baghdad does not believe an "economic blockade" is fruitful, a reference to U.S. sanctions.

Who says gulf states never attacked Iran ? It was Iraq which attacked Iran and millions of Muslims were killed on both sides in a war which lasted 9 years from 1979 to 1988

Well my friend , all Pakistanis on this forum are deliberately bashing Iran for their proxies , and not Arabs and Americans because Americans give us alms and Saudis give us Oil , stop this hypocrisy , another reason is that Iran supports india , it is because we made them do it by becomming Saudi puppets , the Sheikhs of mighty KSA are not angels , open your eyes ...

.
Only if they move out of syria and yemen and stop interfering in KSA, Bahrain,Afghanistan, Pakistan and all the other countries where they try to spread their revolution.

They are still stuck in euphoria of ancient persia and are using religion to gain influence in other countries.

Keep it to themselves and no one will bother them.

Stop fooling Pakistanis. Iran has been siding with India since 1979. Now that Iran has been biatch slapped by India they have come to their senses i guess.

If you listen to Radio Tehran it is even more poisonous against Pakistan than Akashwani of India. They consider us Infidels.

If it was'nt for Iran , winning 1965 war and bitch slapping india would'nt have been possible ... and btw KSA and UAE have biggest export , import relations with india then why don't we end relations with them too ...

Before 1979 Iran was a great friend of Pakistan but alas so-called-Islamic-revolution ended it.
UAE and KSA have not given their ports to India against Pakistan's interest.

If they have come to their senses then we should get benefits from them and try to improve our relations and clear our misunderstandings , don't be emotional and think logically ...

Perhaps you should open a book and read or just don't talk about the history of Iran-Arab ties.

You obviously are ignorant on this matter, on a scale that you don't even know very same countries gave Saddam Hussein 70 billion dollars in cash in his war against Iran in 80s.

I won't even talk about their proxy terrorists attacking Iran, or their proxies in Iraq or Syria attacking Iranian interests.

Only a brainwashed sectarian person won't see both sides of a story like this.
