1. When you say "Karkare's death was planned because of 'Purohit' matter", you blame Hindu extremists for the Mumbai attack.

2. This directly or indirectly (by the views of many members here) brings Modi into the scene.

3. But when Modi made his recent statement, all the members supported him. If point #1 is true, this means Modi is trying to commit suicide. If he talks in favor of Pakistan, he is pulling the blame towards him. This is not Possible.

4. So, either you should stop connecting 'Purohit' matter with Karkare's death OR you should not accept Modi's recent statements.

ATS denies linking Purohit to Samjhauta blast

NASHIK: The Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) has denied that Lt. Col. Prasad Shrikant Purohit is linked to the Samjhauta blast.

ATS counsel Ajay Misar clarified on Monday that he had made no statement to the effect that Lt. Col. Purohit had links with the Samjhauta blast. He said the media misrepresented his statement in court on Saturday.

However, he refused to clarify the exact nature of his submission in court.

According to the statement of a witness in court, which was presented by Mr. Misar, Lt. Col. Purohit had 60 kg of RDX in his possession. Some of it was allegedly used in the Malegaon blast and some for the Samjhauta blast. The RDX was given to a person known as Bhagwan for the Samjhauta blast. Bhagwan’s role is still to be probed.

ATS sources said no RDX was used in the Samjhauta blast and, besides, the Maharashtra ATS was only probing the Malegaon blast.

Meanwhile, a Haryana police team is interrogating Lt. Col. Purohit in connection with some other blasts. The ATS sources refused to clarify which were the blasts in question.
Modassa blast

Meanwhile, the Gujarat police sought the Nashik court’s permission to interrogate all the Malegaon blast suspects, hitherto arrested by the ATS, in connection with the Modassa blast in Sabarkantha. This application is pending. It was not considered in the court on Monday as there is no provision under the law to for such an interrogation.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Sabarkantha, K.K. Mysorewala told the media that the police did not seek custody but only wanted to “ask” the suspects. The Modassa blast took place on the same day and time as the Malegaon blast, he said. Moreover, “the same modus operandi of explosives attached to motorcycles was used.” A Hero Honda Passion was used in the Modassa blast. The Gujarat police have not arrested anyone for the blast. “We do not have any evidence. The chassis number of the motorcycle was deleted and there is no eyewitness,” said Mr. Mysorewala.

Malegaon blast: ATS chargesheet says Purohit main conspirator

MUMBAI: Nearly four months after the blast at Malegaon, police have filed a chargesheet that named Army officer Lt Col Prasad Purohit as the main conspirator who provided the explosives, and Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur as the prime accused who arranged for the men who planted the explosives.

The 4,000-page chargesheet, filed by Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) before the Special MCOCA court here, stated that Purohit floated right wing group Abhinav Bharat in 2007 with an intention to "propagate a separate Hindu Rashtra with its own Constitution".

According to the document, the Army officer collected "huge amounts" to the tune of Rs 21 lakh for himself and Abhinav Bharat to promote his "fundamentalist ideology."

The amount was disbursed by Ajay Rahirkar, treasurer of the group, to various other accused to procure explosives for committing unlawful activities.

The conspiracy meetings were held from January 2008 at Faridabad, Bhopal, Kolkata, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Indore and Nashik.

At a meeting in Bhopal on April 11, 2008 Purohit took responsibility of providing explosives while the Sadhvi took the task of arranging for the men for exploding the bombs in the Muslim-dominated town in North Maharashtra.

Purohit had bought RDX with him when he returned from his Kashmir posting. He assembled the explosives at his residence in Pune with the help of co-accused Sudhakar Chaturvedi and wanted accused Ramji Kalsangra, and the same was used in the September 29 blast at Malegaon that killed six persons, it said
