No need for talks with Pak: Shahi Imam of Punjab

@LoveIcon During the 1947 riots when Punjab was in flames, the State of Malerkotla did not witness a single incident of violence; through it all, it remained a lone island of peace.

The roots of communal harmony date back to 1705, when Sahibzada Fateh Singh and Sahibzada Zorawar Singh, 9 and 7 year old sons of 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, were ordered to be bricked alive by the governor of Sirhind, Wazir Khan, his close relative, Sher Mohammed Khan, Nawab of Malerkotla, who was present in the court, lodged vehement protest against this inhuman act and said it is against the glorious tenets of Quran and Islam. Wazir Khan nevertheless had the Sahibzadas tortured and bricked into a section of wall while still alive. At this the noble Nawab of Malerkotla walked out of the court in protest. Guru Gobind Singh on learning this kind and humanitarian approach profusely thanked the Nawab of Malerkotla and blessed him with his Hukamnama, Kirpan etc. In recognition of this act, the State of Malerkotla did not witness a single incident of violence during partition.

Ludhiana, December 6

The Shahi Imam of Punjab, Maulana Habib-ur-Rahman, today made a strong case against holding talks with Pakistan till it stopped harbouring terrorists and instigating acts of terrorism against India.
He charged Prime Minister Narendra Modi with following double standards. “Modi made fiery speeches against Pakistan when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. But he ever since he became the Prime Minister, he hasn’t taken any action against Pakistan. Modi doesn’t practise what he preaches,” he said.
At a meeting held at Jama Masjid to mark the demolition of Babri Masjid, 22 years ago, he also accused communal forces of committing the act. He said the Muslim community was committed to reconstruct the mosque and its existence could not be denied just because the structure had been pulled down.

No need for talks with Pak: Shahi Imam

But the same Pathans/Afghans of Malerkotla assisted Ahmad Shah Abdali in his military expeditions against Sikh misls. Infact "Sikh holocaust of 1762" took place near Malerkotla, in which Nawab of malerkotla assisted Abdali. I wonder why Sikhs ignored that in 1947.

On topic, this shahi imam is sarkari or darbari mullah

I don't know there are no stats on who suffered how much but the killings were a terrible stain on humanity and contrary to the teachings of our two religions !

Most of these areas are still Muslim majority areas and due to generations going to banglore and bombay for better opportunity. There families and siblings are still here but the young ones always wanting to be enrolled in engineering colleges elsewhere in the country. Punjab had been for many years was neglected for its share of benefits was unable to maintain its infrastructure for over 2 decades. Now things have changed punjab has gotten lot better. People are coming back home back to there ancestral lands.
