People, since this government took office some two years earlier, it has failed to conduct a single missile test of either a new weapon or the systems that have already been inducted in the Strategic forces.

The last test was carried out on the R'had ALCM during Pervez Musharaff's tenure, and it was a regular occurrence in those days.

There was so much anticipation on the newer systems such as Tipu and Taimur, but that now seems a thing of the past.

In present day scenario, where is our Missile programme. ?

Pakistani Government is being rented out by the United States remember? I do not think we will see any missile tests due to the cowardliness of Zardari.

Although i am not a great fan of Zardari, but i wouldn't hold him entirely responsible.

In my humble opinion, there are many factors which hinder the conduct or announcement of such developments and the top most being the provision of arguments to the donners for non-grant of aid.

secondly, pakistan has gained and declared certain developments which may be perceived by the world necessary to counter indian threat, however, more development may suggest that we have designs which contradict to our claim to counter indian threat.

I know it sounds cowerdly, but this is not what i think should be done, its what in my opinion govt thinks.

My dear, your statement does make logic but then again other products wouldn't be rolling off the production lines.
My estimation is, as we are basically in a state of war, and people are facing an acute shortage of basic utilities also the political scene is on a roller coaster, the authorities know that the Nation is in no mood for jubilation at present. But at the right time, we may see some fire works.

Maybe pak is not disclosing any of its tests!.....maybe they were failures(a first for pak).....or maybe successfull new improved one not disclosed for diplomatic reasons,.....who knows?......but its good to hear that NO SUCCESSFULL MISSILE TESTS FOR PAK IN RECENT PAST!

.
@JAKO - I think most of the Pak missiles are Chinese or North Korean variants which are well tested and deployed by these countries. As an Indian I have huge respect for Pak missile forces - they seem to be better than the Indian missile forces and constitute a credible deterence for Pak.
@ Windjammer - Us pressure can explain lack of testing - I think Pak has demostrated the effectiveness of it's missiles many a time. We Indians are wary of this threat and that explains the lack of action after 26/11

Agree with davy,it doesnt matter whether pak missiles are indegenous or IMPORTED.....fact is they are well tested and directed towards where it means to be!.....but to be frank i am quite surprised bout no news of new missile testing by back......a year or two back,it felt like pak is testing a missile every other day!

Failure or not, it would have leaked out eventually. India just had a 'midnight' test which failed a couple of days ago so nothing big about any failures. I bet by the time Zardari has left office he will not have accomplished anything in domestic issues or in military issues. You know what? He might even give our nuclear assets away to the US which have protected us in the past from an invasion.

@freekin - no indian wants to invade pak. we have too many prbs of our own

In [2002]?, India amassed their troops onto the border of Pakistan, when Pakistan's defence budget was frozen by Musharraf so we could focus on tackling other domestic problems. Musharraf responded with a nuclear annihilation threat which made the Indians retreat.

I believe it was called the 2001-2002 Pakistan-India Nuclear standoff.

well Freekin - sabre rattling to satisfy domestic audience. And if there is an end to terrorist attacks like Mumabi, Parliament attack, Kaluchak massacre by Pak backed and trained terrorists - we won't need stand offs as well.
Track-ii diplomacy. People to People contacts. Opening of borders - these are the real solutions. Border redrawing is not possible.
