What's it's not like they are gonna freaking invade you,this is the better way they are probably expecting that you will do something bad like you said,doing this will create goodwill for china in the hearts of common Canadian people

But I agree that responding the other unanticipated way would also be a strategic gain since it would surprise the corresponding party and force them into a change of strategy.

That is indeed correct,to gain some you have to sacrifice some & i suggest you chose the latter which will surprise the west completely
