Last year we lost 180 maf fresh water to sea..according to imran khan yesterday...

DB has storage capacity of 6 MAf and u need 10 maf to keep river ecosystems intact...

Water flow is seasonal... with 80% water flowing in 4 summer months due to monsoon and melting of glaciers...
U need to store at times of plenty and keep flow intact in time of scarcity ... answere is more storage not less

I guess before they can do anything they have to learn farming . Even tho the prices the guys in the video may not be the same but there is several takeaways from similar projects. There is a guys in new Zealand who makes 2 million dollars on 2 acres.

The Asian Development banks $6 billion over the next 3 years should go to Fund our Agricultural Research Universities. If we develop or acquire the best seeds, methods of planting and irrigating, and the full supply chain of picking, processing, turning into value added products, and exporting, then we can rapidly increase yield with efficient use of water.

Also, we can "seed" funds and knowledge to a few companies (that have FDI or local investors lined up) in each aspect of agriculture, so they expand their companies and compete with each other to make the best product at the lowest cost.

Doing this with nutrients and water piped via the drip irrigation pipes, will allow these companies to use government and their own research to make the right nutrient blend for each crop.

The government also needs to outline how much water each hectare of land will get, and slow decrease it each year so farmers are force to become more efficient or sell their farms to someone willing to do the same. We also have too many small farm plots. Laws need to be strengthened so that farm ownership is known and farms can be consolidated into 200-300 kanal farms (similar to the size of the average Israeli Farm, who are world leaders in agriculture) and easier to share resources and equipment.

Agricuilturists dominate all governments. any steps again their profits will not be taken. 2-3000 acres is what many Senior politicians own , even in PTI. So nothing is going to change. No one in the current politics can do agricultural reforms.
