The BBC reporter who took the interview was none other than an Indian named Anbarasan Ethirajan, the same resident reporter in Bangladesh we discussed in other thread on biased and controversial reporting.

Biased perhaps. But certainly not controversial. There haven't been any rants against his reporting in Bangladesh. If he had, he would have been long gone out of BD.

@Topic: Hasina visited Rajib's home after his murder, and at some point stated that the Atheists have nothing to do with AL. If the latter is so, why not make them accountable? What she did back in the former is what hurt many people's sentiments.

In Bangladesh people are living under Awami League dictatorial regime, where the regime is making night into day using their propaganda. So Anbarasan's biased and false reporting is not being questioned in this environment. He is not the only one, perhaps the only Indian one, the other Bangladeshi reporters for AP, AFP, DPA, Reuters are also doing this same biased and false reporting.

As for accepting Blasphemy law, apparently this is a big issue with Western democracies, but they do not know the context we have here in Bangladesh, where India and Zionists in Islamophobia Industry are collaborating to attack Islam in the capital city of a devoutly Muslim country using their leverage with the current "secular" govt. in power. I believe a Blasphemy law in Bangladesh is necessary with safe guards against its abuse, but we will not get it, till we can vote AL out of power in a free and fair election.

There has not been rant because he is operating under BBC cover. Besides, BBC serves mostly secular elitists crowd and their agenda.

On topic: after all Awami League lie and deception, do you really expect Hasina to do anything, she, her party and even her personal staff are friends with these attackers on Islam. That is why when HC asked to take action last year Awami League regime put that order in trash can. It goes without saying Awami League statement and actions are all farce at best.

My point exactly.

What many people don't understand is that Hasina places more value on loyalty rather than on an individual's merit. Even people as worthless like those bloggers can simply serve the party.

Now given that, does it suit well for a country that is 90% Muslim and religious-minded? No.

Imagine, an anti-Muslim party ruling a Muslim-majority nation!

I guess only time will tell. But this still doesn't change the fact that she is walking a very tight rope.

Nicolas Haque does not Report from Bangladesh anymore. He was threatened for reporting about the standard of ICT and not highlighting Shahbag ( as far as i know)....

Hefajat-e Islam on Monday rejected prime minister’s statement and demanded formation of a law in line with the Holy Quran to punish people who defame Islam and Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, during an interview with BBC, said existing laws were sufficient to punish anyone insulting Islam. She also rejected the demand for a new anti-blasphemy law.

Reacting to the PM’s interview, Noor Hossain Kashemi, convener of Dhaka city unit of Hefajat, said, “A new law will have to be formulated incorporating the provision of the punishment suggested in Islam.”

Briefing newsmen on the daylong countrywide shutdown at Lalbagh Shahi Madrasha, he claimed one of their activists was killed in police firing in Chittagong on Monday.

Kashemi also claimed that over 400 Hefajat men were injured across the country as ruling party workers attacked them during the hartal hours.

The Hefajat leader warned the government of tougher agitation programmes if their 13 demands are not met immediately.

Referring to their demand of banning all foreign culture, including free mixing of men and women, he said, by meeting the demand the dignity of women will be ensured.
