NIRBHAY FAILURE: WHY IT’S IMPORTANT FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO SUPPORT THE CRUISE MISSILE PROJECT

.

MTCR restrictions had earlier prohibited Russia from transferring critical systems to India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) that would enable it to increase the missile system's currently restricted range to a figure greater than the 300 km imposed by the treaty.

Military sources told IHS Jane's that the two sides reached a deal to double the BrahMos' range to around 600 km during Russian president Vladimir Putin's trip to Goa in mid-October.

Configured on the Russian Navy's P-800 Oniks anti-ship system (SS-N-26 'Strobile') and its 3M55 missile, the BrahMos and its variants are manufactured at a dedicated facility in Hyderabad, southern India.

The missiles have been in service with the Indian Army (IA) and Indian Navy (IN) for almost a decade, but India is now also planning to test-fire the cruise missile from a submarine and a Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter.

Russia supplies 65% of the BrahMos' components, including its ramjet engine and radar seeker, and the two countries are believed to have recently resolved long-standing issues regarding the system's intellectual property rights, thus allowing India to export the Brahmo
Yes, BrahMos was restricted by software prior to India joining MTCR but now with India joking MTCR range is 600 km.

the range is still to be increased with Russian help
There is nothing left to be increased, BrahMos was always the P-800 Oniks, with a range of 600 km.
But as India was not a MTCR before 2016, official range was 290 km.

. .
All India can hype is only Bra moss.

It's their only successful system that they developed all by themselves. So they call it best ever.

So Brahmos is Onyx with a paint job. No wonder Russians never bought any Brahmos

Brahmos is just a Water down version of Russian P800, nothing more than that. Many key parts of Brahmos is provided by Russians. Russia has special trick to milk India traditionally.

Indians are cheap on small things. But when it comes to big defense projects. They get screw over by the .Russians. The best exampl is the carrier deal. Russians ran several laps around the Indians to squeeze every penny.

. . . .
But failure after four years of development is unacceptable.

Working beyond inertial navigation/ GPS is very difficult. This should be expected fully. Just let them continue to work. Low altitude navigation is a very complex technology to complex. With time, we will.

Chinese CX-1 Mach 3 supersonic cruise missile. Same performance like Brahmos but rejected by PLA. :enjoy:

China has many fancy weapons which India can only dream of.

Mach 3 system is not that big a deal to accomplish in comparison sub-sonic cruise. Shows how much you understand the tech. China has no weapon that India needs to be jealous of.

.
Any military organization world over rejects projects only on the bases of non fulfillment of desired requirements and quality and if china is doing the same , then they too need some good quality products with required parameters and not just cheap Chinese en-mass products. in simple language i.e. like a the maker of sweets in a sweet shop don't taste all of his own sweets but would prefer to orders others bcoz he knows how bad they are and in what conditions did he made them.
