Niqab becoming a flash point in Canada

Get one thing in your mind , Hijab is a "Religious" obligation for men and women both in Islam .

Men are required to cover their whole body and women are required to cover face as well unless they are with their "mehram" ie: Husband , Brother , Father , Uncle , Mother , women (Female universities)

Religions are developed on certain values and with time values of people change. Just let me know on what values were these obligations made and if those values hold today.

According to me modesty in one and for women molestation was another one. As I see , both have become outdated. One can show modesty in behaviour needn't display modesty by wearing some form of clothing . As for molestation the less said the better.

Lets get those things straight.

Islam = All Abrahamic religions and today's Islam is the Final form so yes very old.

Absolutely , 100% valid and flexible for Muslims but others have problems which they always had.

It does not make our values outdated.

That is your thinking which has got nothing to do with the issue.

Forget about all this talk on the female covering.

As men, it is our responsibility to lower our gaze, and to be modest in front of women. We must first set an example of how great men we can be, and we must adhere to Islamic values, etiquette and dresscodes ourselves as well.

Modesty is a huge part of the faith (for both men and women), and is an act of submission to the Almighty! The "hijab" for men is equally necessary to a society as much as the hijab of a woman!

Hijab for men??Never heard of it.What is the use of wearing it?to prevent other men from seeing the hair or something?????

don't transgress the limits laid down by Quran & Sunnah if Niqab isnt there you must not go for it. I ask a simple question when is a person male or a female is wearing best off his/her modesty?? that is right when offering prayer or should I say when he/she present himself in front of Allah!!
I ask do females wear niqab in front of Allah the answer is big NO then why infront of HIS creation when not in front of Creator.
Allah knew there will be problems when setting niqab as compulsory HE didnt ordained us thus better get not much wiser than your Creator & wear that satisfy HIS ordained limitations

Sir,

If you are against Hijaab it doesn't mean that you are representing every women. There are many if not most women who wear Hijaab by CHOICE.

And by banning Hijaab you are not only infringing upon other's religious matters but also violating the basic Human Rights.

Europeans don't realize but these type of things are the fuel of extremists.

And regarding Hijaab in Isalm.Sir I don't know whether it's in Quran or not but i am pretty sure it is in Hadiths. It is not because of Arab Influence.Other wise you wouldn't see Islam in BD and East Asia and in these Areas Infact Most of Muslims live.

I was referring to burqa and niqab; not hijab.

And I also said that if the women wants to wear it, she should wear it by all means.

I'm just critisizing the fact that societal pressure often forces women to wear it unwillingly. If there is no pressure -then sure she can/should dress as she pleases without outside interference.

even in U.S. there is freedom to dress as one pleases as long as it doesnt incite hatred; so i'm surprised Canada would take such a step, since they tend to be much more 'laid back' than Americans (not to generalize)

Yesterday I was driving and I saw a big school bus driven by a desi sister with hijab on and it made me fell proud that she is actively taking part in day to day activities her in Canada.

In my college I was walking with my Sikh friend and a Arabic girl with hijab passes us with skin tight jeans on and he asked me what the use of hijab when she is so mod and I had no answer to it so I said who cares its her life.

Alot of girls in UK are like that too you know, wear the hijab but skin tight clothes and most if not everything is properly outlined. You can see the butt and bossom at the same time. ;)

This hypocrasy is what I have a problem with, alot of muslims girls wear hijab but what they get up to in their real life shows that they do not know the first thing about religion. Why wear it when you do not adhere to the laws of your religion. I have personally knwon and seen some hijab wearing girls do things that are much much worse than not wearing a hijab. This shows compulsion and the thought they are brought up with which excludes the real teachings.

^^^^^^^^

in somewhat similar fashion, it's the same way that some of the biggest frauds i've ever met are the ones who grow long beard

embracing hijab is not a statement for others to just see; its a statement and commitment between self and Allah.

^^^^ I bought a TV from Haji Sab in Pakistan and it was from a dealer of a big brand but when it had some problem so I took it back and Haji sab told me its a smuggled TV sorry no warranty.

Well I think who cares , its their life but never judge a book by its cover.

i guess Abu Zulfiqar the problem is in our educational system and grooming our children up as we do tell them what to do but not why to and in some cases they are forced to do something which is right to do but Kids do not get it as we wont tell them.

hijab is an Islamic obligation for men and women and we can overcome this compulsion issue by educating and explaining to our sisters and daughters why to observe niqab instead of just telling them to wear.

After all Islam is there to liberate an individual not to supress them..but its people who do and give islam a bad name .

regards.

and then what do we get? Understanding and objective being met. :):)

By the way, i don't consider myself very religious. But I do agree with the last 2 lines of your post. Very well put brother.

We should refrain from such concocted Jahi l'iah; do not speak without knowledge.

Ibn Abbas RA, a sahaba upon whom the prophet alihe'salatu wa'salaam made the following du'ah:

Narrated Hadhrat Ibn Abbas Rady Allahu Anhu: Once the Holy Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam embraced me and said, "O Allah! Bestow on him the knowledge of the Book (Qur'an)". (Bukhari).

was of the opinion that only ONE EYE should be shown, this was his interpretation of the Qur'anic ayahs regarding the veil. Granted, this is not the view held by most; however to call for it's banishment and to vehemently attack the opinion is totally uncalled for.

Your quote confuses me. Why only one eye, when Allah has given you two eyes to see, why didnt Allah drape the woman from her mothers womb ? Maybe , there is something wrong with the way Allah sees his creations ??? Honestly, the hijab just caters to the perversity of man, thats all. So lets just be just, and all wear hijabs, or niquabs or whaterver,
