Without contesting the comments, as it has weight. However, only MQM is not to be blamed. This is a big game and all political parties have stake in it. If you remember IK used to make tall claims about Dharna against drone attack. Why his party is not reacting to drone attack. Just stop the container movements to ISAF and NATO force from KPK. They all lie to people who voted them in. White paper comes out two months after the election, just before bye-elections. A movement against government's incompetence was planned after Eid. It has now been delayed and new claim of agitation inside and outside parliament. When? No one knows.

So my dear friend they are all birds of same feather.

KARACHI: Around 600 FBR officer’s names were put on Exit Control List (ECL) during the investigation of missing Nato containers case, DawnNews reported on Tuesday.

The Supreme Court was hearing the case, and the departmental investigation was underway as well. Thousands of containers carrying Nato supply to Afghanistan though Pakistan went missing after leaving from Karachi port.

The bulk of Nato supplies trucked overland into Afghanistan are shipped to Pakistan’s southern port of Karachi and driven to the northwestern crossing at Torkham or a southwestern crossing at Chaman, Balochistan.

According to the Secretary, Planning Division, a probe to look into the assets of those FBR officials was launched as well.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday observed that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was not serious in the missing Nato containers case as it appeared all, from head to bottom, were involved in it.

These remarks were given by the two-member bench of the apex court, comprising Justice Jawad S Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, as it resumed on Wednesday the hearing on the third fortnightly progress report on the Nato missing containers.

The SC directed the NAB to produce all the details pertaining to issuance of cross border certificates (CBCs). Earlier, the court had disposed of a suo moto case pertaining to 10,000 containers of ISAF which went missing from Karachi. The Customs has no record of these containers and these did not reach Afghanistan during the last 1-2 years, causing huge revenue losses to the national exchequer and the economy of Pakistan.

The court had directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to complete the probe into the case and submit the progress report before the court after every 15 days.On Wednesday, the NAB authorities, while submitting its progress report in the instant case, informed the court that a committee of chairman Federal Board of Revenue, chairman NAB and other concerned officials had been formed to devise a strategy on how to recover billions of rupees from those involved in the Nato missing containers scam.

The court, however, while admonishing the NAB authorities over three-month late submission of the report, observed who would be responsible for more than Rs50 billion loss to the national kitty.

The NAB authorities, while seeking more time from the apex court, pleaded that in order to check the status of a total of 112,000 CBCs, which were issued manually, four more months were required.

At this, Justice Khiliji Arif Hussain said that the NAB could be given more time but there would be a condition that during the granted time it would recover all the embezzled money with interest. He further observed that if Rs50 billion was spent on the education sector, it would make every child of the country literate.

Recalling the embezzlement in Iqra surcharge, Justice Jawwad S Khawaja said the tax was levied for the development of education sector in the country, but nobody knows where the amount collected under the head of Iqra surcharge had been spent.

Qazi Anwar, the counsel for container owners, while arguing in the case, raised an objection to the NAB investigation in the matter, saying that the Bureau had not provided record to the FBR so far. He further contended that the NAB failed to determine the loss correctly.

The learned counsel further informed the court that American specialists in Afghanistan had also rejected the concerns shown by the then chairman FBR relating to monetary loss due to the missing Nato containers.

Raja Muhammad Irshad, counsel for the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), submitted before the court that the national exchequer had incurred a loss of Rs53 billion according to the FBR report, while according to the NAB’s report, the loss was estimated as Rs69 billion. Meanwhile, the court adjourned the hearing till today (Thursday).

As per arrangements (with Pervaiz Musharaf) no one was authorised to check NATO+ISAF containers just read Ansar Abbasi investigative stories of 2010-11, now people are doing politics over this matter ....... but as a matter of fact 'no minister or any other authority could be blamed for the clearance of NATO+ISAF containers from port'
