NIGERIA and Pakistan have pledged to co-operate and tackle security challenges.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Abubakar, and the Pakistani High Commissioner to Nigeria, Lt. Gen (Rtd) Muhammed Ashraf Saleem reiterated the two countries' commitment on Wednesday at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Among the challenges cited include terrorism, insurgency, kidnapping and other crimes and criminalities besetting the two countries.

At the end of the meeting, the IGP announced that the first batch of ten Nigeria Police Officers will be leaving Nigeria to Pakistan for extensive training on Counter-Terrorism, Counter-Insurgency as well as Bomb Diffusion and Disposal.

Similarly, the Pakistani Police personnel are also expected in Nigeria to participate in specialized training at the Police Intelligence Institute.

The High Commissioner lauded the new initiative, noting that both countries had similar challenges and therefore must support each other.
