Allow me to elaborate further.

China (both the civilisation and the country-PRC) is still stuck in the Westphalian notion of state sovereignty which allows an individual country to basically do whatever it wants.

Unfortunately the world has moved on from that time and indeed from 1901 to an age where the power of the state is steadily being eroded by technology and regional/world bodies allowing for a convergence of standards from everything from economics to human rights. We are living in a New World Order.

China is no longer the Middle Kingdom nor the only "one under heaven" (tianxia) and as such those more powerful states look askance at the PRC's failed attempts to claim "state sovereignty" in everything from oil to the Beijing Olympics.

This world increasingly belongs to everyone figuratively and lietrally. It is the painful reality you and your Chinese compatriots must accept.

You are right Jliu. It is a fact that must be accepted but its not like its the end. China is rising very rapidly but there is a problem. Political Reform. Although in the past decade, the chinese govt. has been responsible for huge amounts of political reform, it is time they get their act together and start working hard. China's growth will only continue once the Chinese leadership has made a successful shift from Communism to Democracy. We can see that they are doing a good job of it so far because living in China is almost like living in any free capitalist country (only if u r financially sound though). But it requires far more work from the side of the govt. as we all know what happened to a great nation in the past called USSR, when it split up and embraced democracy to become Russia. It's economy crippled and so were it's political aspirations. Lets just hope that doesn't happen to China. :pop:

 to democracy and freedom

HAHA MOMO what did u say to get ur comment removed haha. :tsk:

"China (both the civilisation and the country-PRC) is still stuck in the Westphalian notion of state sovereignty which allows an individual country to basically do whatever it wants."

Seems to me we need to replace "China" in the above statement with US and her NATO allies. It is the US and her NATO allies who have behaved as if they can do whatever they want without consequence to them.

It is a changed world and changing even more. China is a major factor in that Change, if a multipolar global architecture is emerging it is because the world has rejected the behaviour of the US and her NATO allies. If today institutions such as the UN no longer are respected it is because these institutions have been used, actually abused, by the US and her NATO allies to further what they percieved as their national interests.

Lets not put ourselves in a postion where even though we live in glass houses we continue to throw stones at others.

Those who would preach political values to others would be best served by practicing those in theor own countries, it would add credibility to their asserrtions, which border on the religious in their zeal and certitude.

There is huge development in China, no doubt about that.
But still its far away from being a super power.

sorry I beg to differ. Westphalian principles are still the way to go. It is the only way to ensure mutual respect for countries involved in a conversation.

For example, the Western countries helped Kuwait in 1991 and bombed Yugoslavia in 1999, but they did nothing about Rwanda's genocide in 1996. So it inevitably raises the question "under the beautiful facade of human rights and democracy, do these countries have their own agenda?" If not, why are those countries ignored such large scale of genocide and only focus on Middle East and Balkan where they have vested interest?

Westphalian values can be replaced by a new framework only if the framework is accepted by the global community. However, currently different countries have very different concepts about human rights. Hence it can never be used to replace a country's sovereignty.

Hmm, looks like you need to learn more history and research more in real world... First of all, the General in Ming Dynasty want to be loyal to our MING DYNASTY when betrayer come up. So the General led the Manchus to go in and fight freely inside the Great wall. After the Manchu occupies the Chinese don't even invented a thing (which at the 17th century Chinese forces is to be the greatest in the earth). Then the British came in, because of the Manchu stupid idea!!!

So anyway, the Chinese invented gun, canon, mainly explosive shell (and other gunpowders stuff), paper, compasses, and Sun Tzu's Art of War, that's about the main thing we invented. If you dare to tell all your british ancestor, not to use all the above. It think you won't be able to read and write, you won't be able to visit America, Australia, and New Zealand because nothing will guide you. And you won't conquer them without your canons and guns (ofcourse which we invented).

BTW, Free aborigines, Free Maori, Free Quebec, Free Natives Indian (not to be confused with Quebec). Return everything to the Natives and retreat to your small british island up there on europe.

Just because we don't want to be your slaves (like Japanese, when US told the Japanese what to do she must do it or something bad will happen). So there is no problem for us to get on. Because Chinese Civilisation is one of the best, like the Russian and Pakistan, they know how not to be controled by white allien.

GO :china:&:pakistan:&SCO,
