The sole purpose of this thread is to expose the double standards applied in India. There are plenty of Indian members on this forum that only like to portray the so-called pleasant side of India. Well, I'm portraying the other side of India which isn't so pleasant. It's happening on a millisecond basis in India. You can shut your eyes and pretend that it isn't, but that won't change the gourd reality. There is no malign intent involved in this thread. We need to stand up and understand the plight of the poor. I know that most of the news posted in this section isn't jolly. However, that's the reality and we cannot turn a blind eye.

Just desperation, IMO. Not being able to digest the fact that India is becoming a strong global player. So something for their own minds to take cheap satisfaction out of it.

Easy isn't it to brush off my solid proof as desperation. You're just in denial like most of your countrymen. Well, the above doesn't suggest that India is becoming stronger globally. A country that is ample able to feed its poor or provide any toilets cannot be considered a global player. In fact, it suggests the total opposite. Unfortunately, most Indians like yourself like to brag about the shining India. Well, there is nothing shining about it. I've proven that India is the rape capital of the world. I've proven that in India the overwhelming majority of the poor are discriminated. There is no justice for the poor in India. I'll keep on exposing India. Just keep an eye on this thread and don't burn out of rage.

Well, it's very simple. If you don't like this thread no one is forcing you to read it. This thread is only meant for those that genuinely care about exposing the truth. Many Indians on this forum spread false propaganda regarding shining India. I'll expose the truth and show to those that are really interested that shining India is a sheer lie. It's a myth. This thread is solely meant to expose those ridiculous Indian claims. Just let me have my freedom speech. Let me freely express the truth even if you beg to differ.

A two-year-old boy has been "married" to a dog in eastern India to "ward off evil spirits and bad luck".

The "marriage" took place in a village in Jajpur district on Monday.

The "groom", Sagula Munda, was taken to the house of the dog, called Jyoti, in a highly decorated rickshaw and priests solemnised the ceremony.

The boy's father said such "marriages" were a tradition and would help ease the bad omen of the tooth rooted in Sagula's upper gum....

I agree. The majority of the sad stories posted in this offensive and ridiculous thread, could come from my country. Crime, insanity, and injustice, is in every country. Society in my country has been in a sad state for many years. You need not be a Hindu, Muslim, Christian, or other type of country to have problems. India and Pakistan are both great countries that are in the painful process of development. May I respectfully suggest that we look at ourselves in the mirror before we criticize how our brother runs his house.

Madni reveals link between LeT and Maoists: Police

Mohd Omar Madni, a suspected militant, has disclosed about the links between Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashker-e-Taiba and Maoists in Jharkhand, investigators told a Delhi court on Friday.



"He (Madni) revealed that LeT was acting in coordination with CPI (Maoists) in Jharkhand. He has acted as conduit for LeT and provided training to recruits in Azad Kashmir and sent them to India to carry out terror strikes," the public prosecutor told the court which extended the police remand of Madni for seven days.



Delhi Police, which is interrogating Madni, contended that his custodial quizzing was necessary to ascertain his emails details and bank account which revealed transactions to the tune of Rs 25 lakh.



Metropolitan Magistrate Manish Yaduvanshi allowed the plea of the police, which has arrested the militant under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

50-year-old Madni, a resident of Bihar who acquired Nepalese citizenship, was arrested on June four from near Qutub Minar area in South Delhi and produced before the court after the completion of 14 days police custody.

Two contract H1N1 infection locally, govt gets jittery

The H1N1 virus has started spreading locally in the Capital, with the virus moving from person to person.



Of the five persons who tested positive in the Capital on Thursday, two have not travelled overseas or apparently had any direct contact with people travelling overseas.



The occurrence has got the Delhi government worried about containment measures. According to experts, cases of the flu have been known to spiral when the virus starts transmission locally. “The containment becomes very difficult,” said Delhi Health Minister Kiran Walia.



Following a meeting held early on Thursday morning, Health Secretary J P Singh said the “cluster outbreak” has been observed in two persons in Vikaspuri. And these are cases of human to human transmission, the minister said. The other three cases are from US, Japan and Australia.



The Health department has been unable to identify the source of the infection, making it the first “cluster” of cases without a known link to overseas travel.

“At present, we have eight cases in Delhi hospitals including the five reported today,” said Walia. The total comes to 14 positive patients, of whom six have been treated and discharged.



“We have formed teams of medical officers to start contact mapping of the patients from Vikaspuri to trail the infection and the people they have been in contact with,” Singh said. “Two teams have been sent to the hospital while one has been sent to their homes.”

GreenCity project turns out a dud, EOW probe on

Three years ago, IT consultant Raghav Khanna decided to find a home for his aging parents.



He combined his savings with his father’s provident fund and invested in the GreenCity project in Noida. Today, their dream home remains a dream. The money is gone.



Manoj, a manager in a private company, and Indra Mehta, a widow, too, have similar stories to tell.



On Thursday, they and a hundred others assembled outside the Economic Offences Wing in Delhi to protest against the Managing Director of the GreenCity project, Jeetendra Choudary.



“We have been waiting for justice for two years,” said Khanna.



In June 2006, GreenCity Buildtech Pvt Ltd (Noida) had floated advertisements about the sale of 200 sq ft plots in a project in Bhiwadi. Hundreds booked the plots, paying an advance of Rs 2 lakh.



“It was written on the receipts that if the plot is not handed to the customer in nine months, the builder will have to pay the money back with interest,” said Kumar, who lost nearly Rs 6 lakh.

Choudary threw a pre-launch party and announced a discount of 5 per cent for customers who paid the second installment before Holi. Most paid up.



After nine months, there were no plots.



“We came to know that GreenCity did not have the licence for the land they had been selling,” said Khanna.



When the customers went to Choudary, he offered them another deal. “He asked us to go for flats in Dharuhera instead, for which he had a licence. Since there was no other option, we agreed,” Khanna said.



But when by June 2009, no construction was done in Dharuhera, the customers decided to protest.



The EOW registered a cheating case against GreenCity. “The commissioner told us on Thursday that the investigation will take some time, but it is clear that GreenCity is a fraud,” Khanna said.



The customers say that Choudary’s mobile phones are switched off and the GreenCity company is inaccessible.

Ustad Ali Akbar Khan passes away : Rediff.com news

Sarod maestro Ustad Ali Akbar Khan passed away in San Francisco in the US after a prolonged kidney ailment, according to a family friend in Kolkata [ Images ]. 88-year-old Khan died at his music centre at 10 am IST, Rabin Pal, the secretary of sitarist Pandit Ravi Shankar,said.

The Sarod maestro is survived by wife Mary, three sons and daughter. Pal, a family friend of the sarod maestro, said that he was informed about the death of Khan by the Ustad's family in San Francisco. Khan's secretary in Kolkata Ashish Roy said the maestro, who was on dialysis, had been ailing for over four years and his condition had deteriorated in the last four months.

A recipient of Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan, Khan was a colossus in the world of Indian classical music for the last five decades. One of the most accomplished of Indian musicians in the Classical tradition, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan has been designated a 'Living National Treasure' in India - not to mention the fact that he is the object of much admiration in the rest of the world for his absolute mastery of the 25-stringed sarod.



Hailed by violinist Yehudi Menuhin as 'the greatest musician in the world', Sarod maestro Ali Akbar Khan had many a first to his credit in taking Indian classical music to the West. 88-year-old Khan, who had settled down in San Francisco in the US, was admired by both Eastern as well as Western musicians for his brilliant compositions and his mastery of the 25-string instrument. The illustrious son of Ustad Alauddin Khan, he was once described by Menuhin as 'the greatest musician in the world'.

Khan was the first to cut a long player record of Indian classical music in the US and to give a sarod recital on American TV. Khan was also the first Indian musician to receive the MacArthur Foundation Fellowship in 1991 and was nominated for Grammy Awards five times between 1970 to 1998. Born on April 14, 1922 in Shibpur village of Comilla district, now in Bangladesh, Khan took up music at the age of three, learning vocal music from his father and percussion from his uncle, Fakir Aftabuddin. His father also trained him in several other instruments, but Khan decided to concentrate on the sarodand on vocals. A recipient of Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan, Khan gave his first public performance in Allahabad at the age 13 and made his first gramophone recording in Lucknow [ Images ] when he was in his early twenties.

New pact with UK to check trade malpractices: Rediff Money

Malpractices in trade between India and the UK will be difficult as the Cabinet on Friday approved a new memorandum of understanding to be signed between the two countries to prevent, detect and investigate violations of customs laws.

The focus areas are under-invoicing of imports and over-valuing of exports as well as fraudulently availing of export incentives.

The MoU will help the customs to get 'information to enable detection and investigation of customs violations, particularly in the critical area of under-valuation of imports and over-valuation of exports and the consequent fraudulent (availing) of export incentives,' home minister P Chidambaram [ Images ] told reporters after the Cabinet meeting.

The new MoU will replace the existing agreement in operation since 2001.

There have been complaints of under-invoicing and over valuation of exports by traders who claim the tax refunds and sops given to the export activities.
