What's new

New Turkish Serial: Resurrection "Ertuğrul"

This series is not about the ottomans but about Turkmen tribe traveling to Seljuk of rum to aid their Turkic brothers.

You are right . But it's about the father of Osman who founded the Ottomans so that's why I mentioned. It's about immediate events that led to Ottomans so. That said, I'll be interested to watch a movie about Battle of Manzikert (made in Turkey, not by Westerners)

is the filum available with sub-tatle?

Haha Yes, this filum can be downloaded with the subs . You can torrent it.

Awesome, I also found it funny that a Turkish serial has a better fight scene than every Bollywood movie.

Mate, they brought specialists from Hollywood to shoot the fight scenes. Actors trained in sword fighting and horse riding for months.

Nice...so how historically accurate are these dramas ? I watched Fetih 1453 and I liked it but I didn't like how Muhammad al Fatih was portrayed. They made him seem a bit childish and that is no way to treat a man who even Nabi Muhammad SAW praised.

Mate, this movies are historically acurate...Conquerer was at the age of 21 when he conquered Constantinople.

You could tell too the fight was nicely choreographed. Best part was how the guy on the ground automatically knew how to fight, which I guess in those times was expected for most men to know how to use a sword.

Why he shouldn't know ?

and somebody said he dont watch TV dramas or serials when i opened a thread to conform if our drama Humsafar has been shown in turkey or not.

Never seen a Turkish drama, and don't plan to. But Humsafar is, as is every other Pakistani drama, shit. I was shocked and disappointed after finishing it, this supposed 'finest drama of Pakistan'.

Epic as it may be ,that scene is note accurate for those times. In that era Turks avoided hand to hand with European knights because the latter were superior warriors to them in that field. If it were Byzantines it would have worked but Templars ? Not really...

yes, skill was archery and horseback the youtube video BEG-ly9tQGk reinvented what has been lost in this amazing skill
european archery used long bows and where very ineffective

Yep,Turkic armies yoused to great effect horse archers and mobility in defeating European style armies. They didn't go for direct hand to hand confrontation. At least not until the Ottomans at the end of the 14th century and on from there.

Which period are you talking about? They weren't inferior in hand-to-hand. They just had the edge in archery. Just on archery you can't win battles. You have to have troops that can engage the enemy otherwise you will be overrun.

hit and run was the mainstay , so they would ride in with their horses, hit the targets with archery and then flee whilst still shooting with archery. the tartars in the crimeria where very adept at this in raiding ukraine and poland

Nope. Many battles were won by grinding down the enemy with volleys of arrows by horse back archers who couldn't be engaged by European knights nor return fire by archers or crossbowmen who lacked the range of Turkish archers. In fact, generally in those times if the battle managed to arrive at a hand to hand engagement most Turkic/muslim armies ended up defeated even if European knights were in smaller numbers as their charge ussually broke the enemy. Thus,a direct melee was avoided.Taken pound per pound and on an individual base the armoured European knight was the ultimate soldier of his time. They were not pretty smart though.

I don't think so. Because they had better archers doesn't mean they were inferior to hand-to-hand. They just put their advantage to their use. There is no proof they were any less of fighters in hand-to-hand. Most of the battles were also hand-to-hand and they won those battles.

Hand-to-hand was small part:

I also looked at others. Most of the battles there was physical contact.
