India is developing a new air to air version of its brahmos missile to target Pakistani Airborne early warning systems.
After the events of last year February 26/27 India who was dilutional about its military superiority got an eye opener from Pakistani Air force who first successfully stopped India in its offensive on Pakistani soil but also retaliated in return to make India feel more miserable.
They key factor in this 2 day tea party in which India faced, was the threat of highly integrated Pakistani AWAC network which timely recognized the threat and also coordinated in Pakistan's response over Indian soil.
India Air chief has admitted on past many occasions about their lack of good fighter jets as their reason of defeat to Pakistan but to put in prospective Pakistan was not the aggressor here and Indian misadventures was of political motive not military motive.
Any how India has realized its low capability against Pakistan in air warfare and has decided to gain an advantage to throw the balance of power in subcontinent in indias favor. This can result in a weapons race in this already tense region. India was already acquiring Rafael jets from France to fulfill its ambitions of threatening its small neighbours and make it policies dominate the region but some reports are suggesting now that India is working on an air to air version of brahmos along Russia to target Pakistani AWACs which poses a threat to any Indian aggression towards its small neighbor. Pakistan with its lower military budget has successfully kept the balance of power in subcontinent but Indian ambitions to become a threat are growing.
The new missile which India is working on is a air to air version of Brahmos with a range of 350 to 450 km expected. It is thought to be a kinetic kill vehicle with speeds exceeding previous version. The missile is thought to be deployed SU-30 MKI of Indian air force. The missile is also considered less maneuverable and can only target slow moving AWACs. India is expected to sign an agreement on this with Russia some where between April and May.
