What's new

New threat for Pakistani AWACs emerging in India.

.
It's what the OP implied...and when a BVR goes pitbull....John Rambo or John Wayne matter very little.

No- The weapon discussed is Brahmos NG. It has reduced size and weight - making it possible to be carried on multiple platforms.
The platform which gives BVR midcourse guidance would have been shot down by that time. John Rambo will accomplish his mission.

I see, so John Rambo or rather Gobar Parsad will excel in both AWACS killer and other BVR capabilities....that too in next five years....damn by that time even a newborn will be talking, running and throwing his toys at others.

India is developing a new air to air version of its brahmos missile to target Pakistani Airborne early warning systems.

After the events of last year February 26/27 India who was dilutional about its military superiority got an eye opener from Pakistani Air force who first successfully stopped India in its offensive on Pakistani soil but also retaliated in return to make India feel more miserable.

They key factor in this 2 day tea party in which India faced, was the threat of highly integrated Pakistani AWAC network which timely recognized the threat and also coordinated in Pakistan's response over Indian soil.

India Air chief has admitted on past many occasions about their lack of good fighter jets as their reason of defeat to Pakistan but to put in prospective Pakistan was not the aggressor here and Indian misadventures was of political motive not military motive.

Any how India has realized its low capability against Pakistan in air warfare and has decided to gain an advantage to throw the balance of power in subcontinent in indias favor. This can result in a weapons race in this already tense region. India was already acquiring Rafael jets from France to fulfill its ambitions of threatening its small neighbours and make it policies dominate the region but some reports are suggesting now that India is working on an air to air version of brahmos along Russia to target Pakistani AWACs which poses a threat to any Indian aggression towards its small neighbor. Pakistan with its lower military budget has successfully kept the balance of power in subcontinent but Indian ambitions to become a threat are growing.

The new missile which India is working on is a air to air version of Brahmos with a range of 350 to 450 km expected. It is thought to be a kinetic kill vehicle with speeds exceeding previous version. The missile is thought to be deployed SU-30 MKI of Indian air force. The missile is also considered less maneuverable and can only target slow moving AWACs. India is expected to sign an agreement on this with Russia some where between April and May.

I have said before that now Pakistan should develop a SAM which must have Iron dome & Arrow-3 type capabilities, means it must be able to take out all air born threat including air to air, air to ground & and surface to air missiles.

Indian Armed Forces will have the capability to down Saab2000 & ZDK03 very soon but it is not air to air its ...S400 SAM System if placed near border lets say 100KM it can target with 400km range missile...

Plus why develop Anti AWACS Missile when its available off the shelf "R37" They can integrate it with BARS with Russians support and Voila they have 300+km firing range anti awacs capability and its not a fairy tale...Russains have tested it at 400km years back.

So they have learned and adapting..rest assured so we must be doing the same...

I think we must forget 27th February after its first anniversary. India has taken the lessons very seriously..

This A2A is a lethal capability if acquired in the next five years.. Also, S-400 gives them an edge against our airborne assets.

India is contacting every supplier after last year's beating.

S400 systems are a less threat to Pakistani AWACs cause we have missiles that can take out S400 easily. What we need is a good integrated SAM defence system to make sure India is denied the opportunity to attack our AWACs.

Don't forget Feb 27th is humiliation to India but they don't intent to keep it that way and they are working on a plan to overcome it. If Russia can sell S400 to China and then sell the same to India which is China's enemy and then sell to Turkey which is a Nato country means Russia can sell it to Pakistan. But it would be better if we develop our own system to counter this Indian threat. India got ram jet tech good but our solid fuel tech is better and developing one for Pakistan will not be difficult for us.

No, i think, such as system is only viable and economical if it is very long range system for all threat spectrums, otherwise, it is economical to have dedicated system variants of different roles so that they can be spread fielded at locations which are subject more to a specific type of threat.

Eg : You field a battery of a multirole air defence system in peshawar but the anti ship capabilities are useless from that area, as well as most probably air to ground as well. So better to have variants, in strength, spread them out as per requirement, they could be multirole as well at points as well as dedicated at other points. Fielding a multirole system, when it gets suppressed, you lose it all, instead, field a HQ-16, some KMs ahead of HQ-9, one goes down, the other is live !!

PL-17 and PL-21 could well be the options that PAF may pursue to counter threat from larger RCS.
In time, they will prove even more of a threat than PL-15, can’t wait to see india even further butt hurt once we get those beauties China is developing...

Look it is a serious concern. India is making big purchases to end the gap of range it faces from USA Russia and other countries. Yes this development will take time but 5 years is just around the corner. Our foreign office has already expressed concerns of India purchasing US weapons to upset the balance of power and we should also work on things which we feel necessary for our security.

The talk of Third carrier vs 6 Nuc subs is also a huge potential threat of future.

Why do some of the posters think that PAF is sitting idle after 27th Feb? IAF has learnt a lesson so has PAF from the last year skirmish and both the airforces will work on strengthening their weaknesses.
