What's new

New Iranian Assault rifle and Submachine gun shown at 15th IPAS Exhibition

I still fail to realize why POF can't create a new gun from scratch. We have the expertise. All we need is a good design. I'm sure many here on PDF can create a good one. What's stopping us from creating a gun?

It jammed during tests and was discontinued in 2012.

But the R&D and experience from that venture seems to be paying off today.

That's a shame. The Iranians should have continued development, as it was clear that it just needed a bit of work to fix it's issues.

The original M-16 had similar problems, and it took the US a decade to get the rifle to a decent state. Now the M-16 is one of the most used rifles in the world.

Creating the gun is easy, getting it to work at the same level as international rifles is hard, and takes a lot of commitment. POF has been looking for funding for a long time, but it seems that neither the government nor the PA is currently interested, probably due to a lack of funds; this may also be the reason why PA is looking to replace their current rifles with an off the self model.

What's the source in that? Another super professional member? Kheybar has many versions , the latest version which is called sama has won the ultimate competition of being one of the rifles used by Iranian special forces.

Yet another one of many Iranian embarrassments epitomized by the so-called 5th gen stealth fighter they built lol
@Serpentine

You see , we built mockups cause we CAN build mockups . Sth that your failed nation cannot do .

Now get back to producing 1980's chinese shiit and name it as your own . Thats the true embarrassment

well what the Iran can do make a good amount of test on this Rifles first
then invite ppl to test in there countries and check
make it strong
there is a strong possibilities Iran can make a huge revenue by exporting weapons small arms to other countries

Do you know what's an embarassment? That you try to make fun of a nation building something itself while you have done absolutely nothing yourself. Khayber rifle was designed more than 16 years ago, we are far away from that and we have produced new rifles since then.

Fateh assault rifle developed by IRGC and currently undergoing tests. If successful (and reports already indicate they are), it will be used in mass numbers by IRGC ground forces:

A new rifle called Siavash-5 developed by private sector. The guy in the pic is called Mikhail Kalashnikov of Iran, he designed the rifle.

Now who should be embarrassed? You or us?

@Serpentine Well sir if these weapons are inducted (and that's a big if) we will see how they perform, until then keep your hosannas to yourself, everyone in the region is laughing at your claims especially our Turkish brother's who really have made rapid progress in weapons technology, that's why we buy their hardware and laught at yours.kudos

15th International Exhibition of Police, Safety, and Security Equipment (IPAS) has been opened today in Tehran, like every year new and old achievements are presented to public, this year Iran Defense Industries Organization showed two new weapons for the first time.

A new multi caliber Assault rifle , there are 5.56mm and 7.62mm versions of it.

Hopefully more info will be published on them in the coming days.

thats a roni kit.

and the rifle looks like its based on AK.

The weapons displayed seems to be imported->copied kits. Its sad really, why not take Khaybar design and improve the firing mechanisme? For example simply copy a gas-piston system and implement it on the Khaybar design.

Why can't they stick with one standardized service rifle like the rest of the world?

Anyways, that brings me to the next question, what IS Iran's service rifle exactly?
