New Google Maps launched – Shows whole of Kashmir & Arunachal Pradesh as Disputed!

Google just announced their New version of Google Map & Earth, which is aimed at providing accurate boundaries and geopolitical features of the country. Google had earlier come under fire for not showing the International boundaries, especially the one’s which are under dispute.

They now seem to have taken a safer route by showing regions under dispute separately, which is not part of both the sides. Like in case of India, Google maps has shown entire region of of Kashmir & Arunachal Pradesh to be disputed.

According to the new Google maps, all the new areas which are disputed are shown by dotted lines and not part of either of countries which are claiming the region.

I, for one can understand Jammu & Kashmir to be shown as disputed (although, I think only northern part should have been show as disputed), seeing Arunachal Pradesh under dispute is not something I can digest.

It seems just claiming the neighboring region is reason enough for Google maps to put the area under disputed category. Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India and just because China claims it does not mean it should be shown as disputed.

Nope there are some maps out there like Nokia maps, which wrongly show Kashmir as a part of india.

you know what's funny.. If you go to maps.google.com, the whole area of J&K, AK, Northern Areas,COK and AP is shown with a dotted boundary (disputed).

However, If you go to maps.google.co.in, all these parts are shown as a part of India..

Dont read too much into it...

Guess what a couple of days ago in geo news as well as dunya news showed a map with occupied Kashmir being part of india which is "Occupied", I tired to contact dunya tv my email gone down the drain. That azizi guy in one of the programs on dunya once insulted that retired chief justice who has short stature I tried to contact the maker and script writer who has his own blog and he did not reply nor apologize in his next episode. Ugly journalism, despicable channels.

It is 'disputed' and yet decided that it is 'part of Pakistan.'

It was always shown as disputed. USA can keep showing entire India disputed for all that it matters on its private companies' maps. The bottomline is, it is a part of our territory and no one is going to take it from us.

Yes disputed regions are disputed and recocnized by all reputed map makers. Now audience, the next show is presented by Indian crying regiment famous for its non stop tears!
