A new Chinese military aerial refueling aircraft that is converted from the H-6K bomber is seen on Yanliang airbase in Xi’an on Google Earth’s latest image updates of the site. Under-wing aerial refueling pods can be seen near the wingtips which differentiate this aircraft from the bomber version.

China has been shifting to a H-6K fleet as the new bomber uses fuel-efficient D-30KP turbofan engines and Chinese aerospace engineers have also redesigned the flight deck.

so what ? what will be effort after converting ?

D-30KP is more efficient and that means more fuel can be transfer to buddy aircraft. I will not be surprise if plans are already underway to convert Y-9 into tank version too.
