Instead of going through pain of Installing/formatting windows and Installing/re-installing all the programs. There is an easy way to do it. Using Norton Ghost, you can create a image of your existing Window/Linux. This image will save not only your windows but all the programs and files in it. Next time, just apply image to the formatted/blank system. Not only save times but useless headaches too.

i have a specific question. i have a gigabyte ma69vm am2 mobo. right now i have athlon X2 64 running on it. i wanna put sempron 145 into it. it says on cpu upgrade that it is compatible with latest bios upgrade which i did.

my question is, has anyone here tried am3 processor on am2 socket ? did it work ? any processor or mobo combos should do.

this is the other desktop i have. i wanna do something with it. not sure what !!!

did you check the power supply and cooling requirements for this upgrade?

you might want to check with user manual or dedicated forums for advice. you might fry your board. I had that issue long time ago when the board couldnt handle the processor (I am talking really long time ago) the pins were compatible but the computer used to overheat and shutdown eventually I had the board changed and had a bigger heat sink and fan installed.

@Irfan Baloch I opened this thread yesterday for this AWESOME, out of the world computer launched day before yesterday. This one beats the $hit out of Mac

I wonder if you answered me?

I had to change my hard disk because windows vista remained on the welcome screen not going any further,. the computer shop asked for too much money to retrieve my data from the hard disk.
I was wondering if there is any go to program for such issue where the zero sector is not bad and what external device to buy so that this hard disk can be attached to it to act like an external device and then plugged to a working PC to retrive the data

Another useful tool computer shop guys use is Hiren boot CD. It is a bundle of softwares plus mini Windows XP and Mini Linux combined in one file which we can burn it on to CD or USB. Each of 9 categories contain at least 5-6 programs in it. It comes with Norton ghost. An added advantage.

it murders Mac for sure.

this is way ahead of its time. hands down its awesome if everything works as advertised
I mean if there are no issues with sensors and data capture from over head and the pad .
if the quality is also top notch then this will be a winner and a must have

Irfan Bhai All you need is USB stick with HBCD burn on it. By using Mini XP window, you can access Recovery programs pre-installed in it and hopefully recover data from HDD

Well it's gonna be out early next month so we'll know how it works. I believe in the US people will be able to play with it in super markets to get an experience. But I think it's still a valiant effort. I'm sick of the 'innovations' apple has been bringing out recently- 'bigger screen', 'higher res screen' and so on. I want a new experience....kinda like this one some day in the future.....:D. Then I too can pretend to be Tony Strak :partay:

I will like to share and learn about how to clear malware and keylogers from the system which normally are missed by anti virus programs. also on retrieving data from errored hard disk

I can share some simple tips on flash, excel.

I dont want to speculate, games normally have a minimum direct X requirement so the ones recommending Drx11 should run on 10. if your computer is compatible then get the free copy of Dx 11 from Microsoft website

please explain what exactly are your limitations. I will ask some gamer to advise you on that.

@Mosamania can give a better advice on gaming hardware. He built a desktop for PC

And for malware, I'm using Malwarebytes Anti malware program premium edition (pirated premium edition). Highly recommended program. Though won't catch viruses, only malware, keyloggers etc , It augments your Anti virus program

Generally if you just want to extract particular files/folders, using a linux disc/usb is good option.

just saved work in the my documents folder.
I was learning Flash 8 and had examples and libary built up and before I could backup the data the hard drive died and the laptop used to lock up at Windows login screen.

this Linux disc/ usb is a hardware or a software?
it seems I need a device to attach the erred hard disk externally and then use a program to interface it with a working PC yes?
if i can access and retrieve the data from the directory tree then it will be cool. its many months work of data and I was so peed off that i stopped my projects

By linux disc I meant linux installation disc. The OS setup. You can use linux mint or ubuntu, the popular linux distributions. With them, you don't need to install linux, but you can boot the OS from the disc/USB itself. And you would be able to operate the computer normally as if you have installed the linux. You can than copy the files/folder you need in some different partition/hardware or upload it on cloud - if it is not much!

You can also try to run the system repair from vista boot disc, it might do the magic for you. But having a linux mint cd is a good backup plan - you never know when you would need it with vista on your computer ;)

got you

so just to be clear

  • Install this Lunix mini on a USB drive
  • connect it to the PC containing the bad HD.
  • from the boot options I choose to boot from the USB
  • and then through the GUI browse the bad HDD on the computer and transfer the needed data
? is that what you meant?

Precisely.

You can simply burn the iso file on a disk, which is simpler than making a USB boot disk.
