Time to close the border.
Nah Nepalis are fine people overall.
Just make this idiot fail in front of the Nepal people eyes, just like last time....and put the next lackey/ex-lackey in line to take his shot at this political feelz circus. Few people here know just how much Nepali political elite are connected to India (training, mentoring, cooperation, funding, deploying against each other etc... you name it).
Its just a lot easier to cling to whatever bias/perception they already have on the issue and claim "times are different"....without for example having a look at the level of Nepalis working in India and how much they remit back to Nepal and benefit from the open border.
It's thus really an issue for the Nepali people to decide and Mr. Oli knows his limits in even trying to gauge that (much less take action in some way he perceives) given how much Nepal relies on Indian economy and Indian security guarantees. Anti-India sentiment has always been in political play for a long time in Nepal, but there is a key difference in how much it actually gets grounded in any meaningful populist way.
The MSM article also misquoted what he said pretty badly.
Wise move, Modi cannot be trusted, after all he is the one that restricted their fuel supply.Kudos
Wasn't Modi, it was Nepal's own people (who have a hate for Oli and nepal govt elite overall) in the border areas....with some local tacit support from Indian side.
The actual Indian govt cutting off of fuel happened in the 80s under a congress regime (forgot if it was IG or her son).
Good move by Nepal. China is much more trustworthy than India is.
Hence why Nepal and China are working to have an open border between them....and closing the open border in existence for centuries in India-Nepal case right? LOL.
Politicians squawk, actual people on the ground are what matters most.
