NEW DELHI: Nepal government has decided to amend the new Constitution to address two key demands of agitating Madhesis regarding proportional representation and constituency delimitation, a move that has been welcomed by India.

"Government of India welcomes these developments as positive steps that help create the basis for a resolution of the current impasse in Nepal," the external affairs ministry said on Monday reacting to the developments.

"We urge all Nepali political forces to now demonstrate necessary maturity, flexibility to find a satisfactory solution to the Constitutional issues through constructive dialogue in an agreed timeframe," the MEA said.

Nepal government took the decision at an emergency cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar here on Sunday night.

The meeting also agreed to set up a political mechanism to recommend solutions to disputes over the proposed provincial boundaries within three months of its formation.

India didnt burn the bridges it was Nepal's Mountain regions people who in their eagerness to be seen as Pro-China tried to keep out 30% of their Ethnic Madhesis(plains) people who are Indian origin Nepali people on the bordering states of India.
You simply cannot shut out 30% of your Population and make no mention of their rights or representation in Constitution and call it fair.The problem was of Nepals own doing.India had no hand in it.
Nepal can choose to get close to China at the risk of turning into another Tibet.They have to decide whether they want to be Democratic or a Dictatorship.
When China can offer the same privileges as Nepalis have in India such as, right to work freely,free borders,No visas and all other rights the Indian citizens enjoy as per Indian Constitution except Voting rights or running for Public office.Not to mention the Culture,History and Religious ties from thousands of years.Sure they can go to China or whomever they like.
