OT: This is not how it happened, there were detailed discussions, considerations and negotiations on all sides leading up to the tests. Some in Pakistan were hoping for more wide-ranging condemnation of India, more pressure and sanctions on India, and substantial concessions for Pakistan. They also saw the dire straits Pakistan was in, we were already under Pressler, and we had less than 3 months of reserves in Q1-2 98'. Eventually the tests were carried out by a broader consensus, both civilian and military, which was best IMO. Sheikh Rasheed's words and his spin aren't worth a moment of any serious person's time.

Why dont you listen to Gohar Ayub than who happened to be the minister of his cabinet? Or that does not support your narrative here. Nawaz was just a face representing Pakistan and so naturally all decisions were associated to him whether he actually was in favor or not is an altogether different story and its no secret nawaz never wanted to test nuclear weapons.
