Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman, Imran Khan, on Saturday took to Twitter, saying that there was a “conflict of interest” for a business associate to arrange a meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.

The PTI chairman, however, welcomed the revival of relationships between the longstanding arch rivals.

“We welcome the thaw in Pak-India relations, but to have a business associate arrange the two prime ministers’ meetings has an underlying conflict of interest,” he tweeted.
Referring to an earlier secret meeting between the two leaders, he said, “Meetings of the two prime ministers, from the secret meeting in Kathmandu to the one in Lahore, must be done through institutional frameworks with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the loop for sustainability.”

Further, Imran said that such meetings held between the prime ministers undermines a process whereby tensions can be eased, and raises questions and conflict of interest.

The remarks come a day after Modi made a brief surprise visit to Lahore where he met with PM Nawaz and visited his residence in Raiwind.

It was the first time an Indian premier had stepped foot on Pakistani soil in more than 10 years and was seen by analysts as a step towards normalising ties between the two neighbours which have fought three wars.

If Nawaz Sharif meeting Modi is 'conflict of interest', then what the heck is this?

Imran's stand is similar to Congress stand in India.

I guess it was a courtesy call and since there were no formal meeting agenda, don't think we should make much out this short visit.
@Atanz Sir what do u make out of this meet?

Who is Modi? What are his antecedents? Was this dramatic visit merely a stunt? With what objective? Last time NS arranged such a meeting without taking the military into confidence, it had proved fatal. This time - only time will tell.

Everybody in India knows - Modi's a corporate stooge and will stoop any low to serve them, Imran just saying it out loud. Kudos to him for having the guts

Predicting another kargil???

apparently Gen Sharif and the army have thrown their weight behind it

it'll be a slow process, let's see if we can get them to drop Kashmir in priority and move ahead on the economic front, India has much to offer to Pakistan. Terrorism is the biggest threat to both nations, and nuclear war is not worth it.

carrot and stick chanakya neeti.

Kashmir was dropped dead when Musharraf left the office.

Imran's stand is similar to Congress stand in India.

And I agree with the Congress stance even if I support NDA .

These same BJP shouted a lots and a few months ago for justice of 26/11 and stop terrorism slogans .
Where is that now ?
Pathetic inconsistence foreign policy of GoI .

Nawaz still took a lot of heat when there was no mention of it in the UFA joint statement. Kashmir will definitely be part of the dialogue but it has to be eased out of the Pakistani psyche and put on the backburner. This can be accomplished by seriously looking at other areas like CBMs along the IB and LOC, and more than that, trade and commerce, stuff that makes a real tangible difference to people on the ground. The real masterstroke in this so far has been keeping the hurriyat out.

Foreign secretaries to meet in Islamabad to keep Hurriyat at bay - Times of India

Pak will need to be very vigilant and keep a strict tab on the India focused lashkars etc who have so far been spared the zarb, a major terror attack is the biggest risk to the peace process.

We are a nation of 200 million people. Can't put every radical organisation in check nor prevent it from attacking Indian interests.
