I dont think Chengdu is going to further develop J-10 aircraft carrier twin engines version. my reasons are:
1. Chengdu are already devoting a lot of resources in developing J-10Bs, up-grading stealther FC-1 for PAF, and not to mention the cutting edge J-20s their burdun is heavy!
2. the current ski-jump Varyag will bot be serving as the 'target' aircraft carrier for PLA navies, we are going to develop catapult carrier as PLA's 'target' carrier```but not sure whether it is going to be nuclear or not`! so there is no rush to develop a new aircraft for carrier usage``but i think j-15 is not a 100% dedicated carrier craft, as it is too big which will occupy lots spaces, therefore more compact, stealthy and electronic advanced aircraft is the goal``
3. at the moment we hear a lot of 'noises' from Chengdu (FC-1, J-10, J-20), but very few from Shenyang, Shanxi and others``it is possible that they are working other classified aircraft models``who knows``coz CCP will keep 'teasing' us, god know for how long`!!
