NAVAL CHIEF INAUGURATES NAVAL STRATEGIC FORCE HEADQUARTERS

The NSFC was established quite a while ago, with the induction of the Harpoon...

It is only a matter of time before we see a successful test of Babur SLCM...that day Pakistan will officially acquire the Second Strike capability.
Looks like the days are coming for that test too, soon.....:)

.
great news it means either agosta 90b r being modified with abbility to launch SLCM r an indeginous SSBN r a leasd one from china fr stop gap

Of course yes!
The Babur SLCM is designed to be launched by the Agosta-90B's torpedo tubes.

.
*Cough* Nuke Sub *cough* *cough*

Damn this cold...;)
Not necessarily a nuclear powered sub, but certainly an indication that Pakistan is very close to achieving the ability to deliver nuclear weapons from some of her naval platforms.

.
There were rumors of a Nuclear sub in retaliation to India's.

But the fact that this was a official press release, indicates that something has been done.

.
Establishing a Naval Strategic Command HQ is a indication that Nuke Sub is coming soon, or maybe Babur is soon going to be tested from Agosta-90B. Whatever! Fascinating development :)

.
This would mean that Pakistan Navy has acquired the ability to launch a Nuclear Capable Cruise Missile from F-22P. Perhaps as mentioned above a Naval version of Babur or maybe a reversed engineered version of harpoon with long range strike ability? I would prefer a Harpoon as not only can it be launched from a ship but also from the Aerial Platform such as perhaps a Mirage. If it would be from a Mirage then we have indeed developed a aircraft carrier-killer missile!

.
2nd Strike?

This means we already have assets in place with navy, that can deliver nuclear weapons?

Wow!

I very much doubt if F-22Ps were to be used for this role. I am not saying that they cannot be used for this role, but the fact that they are not the most appropriate assets, as their threat can easily be suppressed by the enemy using extensive air power.

In naval strategic forces, almost always, the nuclear strategic weapons carrier are submarines, which can approach by stealth and deliver the weapon.

.
Actually this statement holds it all..

...HQ NSFC will perform a pivotal role in development and employment of the Naval Strategic Force. The Force, which is the custodian of the nation’s 2nd strike capability...

As quoted by sir Rafi in the sister forum, we do not need to announce testing of cruise missiles, neither do we need to announce them to the public until deemed necessary..

Babur tests in underwater canister have been carried out, the range will also be increased. Eventually the main element of the deterrent will be carried by long range ballistic missiles, carried at sea, on nuclear subs.

It is true.

this also has another implication.. only the A90Bs would be capable enough to launch any kind of cruise missile as of now.. Qings are still short of a couple of years to being inducted.. but the launch tubes of A90Bs were too small for a cruise missile the size of babur.. that leaves 2 assumptions..

1.) the size of babur has been reduced to fit inside the tube but then why would a canister be required to launch a cruise missile in this case anyway?? Do exocets require a canister launch system as they can be launched from the tubes.. and reducing the size of the missile would decrease the size of the warhead.. would a cruise missile with a warhead the size of Nasr be enough for the operational envelop as Nasr is supposed to be a battlefield nuke..

2.) if the size remains the same and the canister launch system is not intended for torpedo tubes, then that means that the A90Bs have been modified to launch a cruise missile from a vertically placed canister launch system..

Hmmm.... Good news but where is second strike platform. Ballistic missile subs or nuclear sub ?? Last we learned, PN was not in position to purchase even the Chinese conventional subs.

.
I couldn't find the thread where Imran posted pictures of Agosta 90B and F-22 P visit to Saudia Arabia and one of the pics were of VLS tubes on 90B.

It was not just about the position of PN but according to P Shamim Sahab the China had reservations about selling their most latest conventional sub to Pakistan due to our close relations with USA.
