India has always wanted to follow an independent foreign policy and so we will never join NATO.

India joining NATO is a wet dream seen by both pakistanis and bangladeshis.

Pakistanis who already are the puppets of US and China & bangladeshis cheerleading for china cannot digest the fact that India has the backbone to stand alone

Irrespective of how 'sugar quoting' anyone does.....this is the future for India. Picked out by the brightest in the world that belong to NATO. The Indian army will be running their fights for them in other places. Simply the cost of a head is a LOT in the Western countries and people turn against them wars. But it's different for India. Plus all that money and technology flowing will have some payback in some shape or form. I think it is a great idea that India will become a partner with NATO. I think it puts some responsibility on the Indian side and allows them to give something back to the West. The West has been investing all kinds of stuff into India to show them that we want a partnership but the response is usually cold. So there should be equal responsibility in a partnership

I really love to see a lot of western state of equipments in Indian military arsenal, but i dont want to commit our soldiers over seas, because we are already facing enough threats from inside and from our neighbors.

They are calling for a partnership on relaxed terms and conditions - I am sure India will make a studied decision on where the actual future lies.

I wont say that india ever had fully independent policy .It did tend to inclined to poles like in cold war it was USSR and now its USA.

As for not fighting war ...you are wrong again.India has been fighting continuous war for almost 3 decades now.

NATO needs some hard cash and fresh soldiers to fight its wars around the world. india will be tempted too cuz IF it gets attacked it has NATO backup. indians are also some what pissed to see russia and china strengthening their ties and talks of improving relations with Pakistan.

Dude...just to refresh your memory...Indian fought with Pakistan with some partial diplomatic help from USSR,when all powerful western block was backing you in the past. Now in this situation, do you think in any of the situation due to which if the war happens, India will get scared just because Russia and China is on your side....And apart from that China was always there in your side....so you have recently added Russia into your block... Believe me..at least when USA was there, US was was helping you in open against any kind of attack by providing arms,aid and ammunition....But this time if any war happens...you are not going to get neither any aid,arms not any ammunition from neither USA not China...And please beware...Russian are great business man...They really know where to go....

So in this situation if you think India need to go to NATO just because with fear of all powerful Pakistan and China....then you are always to have a sleep and nice dream...Bcoz..it is your bedroom and you can sleep as long as you want...
