NATO Shifts Supply Lines Away From Pakistan To Central Asia

Revenue ? What world have you been living in, NATO's supply has been a constant headache for Pakistani authorities. These massive supply trucks hardly pay a penny in tolls, their huge size causes extensive damage to our road infrastructure and thus we have to invest more money in repairing these roads as compared to what we charge in tolls. Constant Taliban attacks on NATO supply convoys cause massive damage to our infrastructure which we have to pay for out of our own pockets. I must say, Pakistan sold itself cheap. Now the Americans will get a taste of the Russian hospitality when they charge them premium prices, this war just got more expensive for the US. I hope that the entire NATO supply lines move over to Central Asia, this will in reality be a blessing for Pakistan.

Yes revenue, transit of billion of dollars of goods through Pakistan brings business to Pakistanis..while there are no direct transit fees for goods being transported to Afghanistan but Pakistan's common man ie truckers do earn a lot from it and the taxes they pay(though unlikely) goes to your govt.

Besides US has directly paid Pakistan in excess of $21 billion since the start of WOT...that money can be used to build those roads.

I don't think the Taliban will vacate or will they?

Even if the Taliban don't vacate, it does not matter as it is only a matter of time when the Pakistan Army will crush them. This news works in our favour, you see these militants who have an agenda against Pakistan have corrupted the minds of the youth, and have used propaganda in claiming Pakistan is doing America's dirty work. With the supply route gone, majority of the Pakistani based militants won't have a reason to persuade th youth to join there cause....and that hopefully will be check mate for the Pakistan Army. This will hopefully stop there human resources, in my opinion, some may disagree but I think this is a golden opportunity for Pakistan, as it will only make us stronger.

Actually yes! ,post 9/11 prior to Pakistan offering her bases ,India was ready to do so.of course the logistics will more expensive and difficult.

India will help US if it brings stability to Afghanistan.since a stable Afghanistan means a stable central Asia and South Asia.

they money we have lost during this WOT is more than the money U.S has given us. . And We'll be happy to get out of this mess. .

after WW2 no one ever thought that U.S.S.R would lose its economy and become just Russia. . Anything is possible in this world of wonders. .

Other aspect of the picture is Pakistan has lost more than $ 60 billion for a war it never initiated. Just to enhance your knowledge NATO pays only Rs 410 for a container in the name of custom, NATO has Paid Just Rs 136.8 million from July 2008 to March 2011 and these charges were received under the head of recovery, royalty, storage and wharfage. Countless (in thousands) trucks have destroyed by militants supplying and fueling NATO, so they have lost more than they get from NATO as freight. Now go and get your figures and information right..

I don't think anyone needs to check NATO conveys. .. There are weapons, foods etc etc. . Why do anyone need to check it. .

pakistan wont have any reply, i think. they will probably keep this flow 50% and 50% through pakistan, or even 60 and 40% pak, just in case if things go wrong with pak. and yes, off course we have to see and watch,
