I knew it was an old news, and yes, you got new weapons. But I think Indianrabbit's point was that you have very very limited resources to stand against NATO (in a completely hypothetical war!). India is one thing. But NATO is whole different level.

well said. NATO is just Provoking and instigating Pakistan. They have failed and now are throwing blame on Pakistan.

Well said! yesterday their was a news that US is thinking of removing names of few more Talibans from black list. They themselves are trying for reconciliation with Talibans and trying to turn heat towards Pakistan.

Hopefully the GoP follows a better logic than you. In my view, these intrusions are a signal by USA that either Pakistan attacks Haqquani or they will. The choices in front of Pakistan are

1. Go head on with USA and NATO. Block supplies, adopt an aggressive posture on the Afg-Pak border. Basically go the Iran way.
2. Allow USA and NATO to attack Haqquani network via choppers and boots on ground as they have allowed Drone strikes
3. Attack Haqquani network themselves

In my view, Kayani will go with option 3 since the 1st option gives India a tremendous advantage and gaurantees Pakistan's downfall and second option has a load of public backlash within Pakistan

Are you intentionally being naive or is it the obvious nature that you jump up and down when the yanks do any thing against Pakistan. Do you even have idea how capable the Haqqanis are, they are as feirce as there counterparts in Afghanistan are. Going against them require at least 2-3 corps level of effort,tons of resources and huge amount of money for the IDPs and the Rehab which will follow,not to mention the onslaught and the havoc of suicide bombings in the Urban areas where the US still enjoys little support among the Pakistani middle class .. Are the yanks committed for that level of Cooperation,i guess not. Further the PA is overstretched with even the reserve forces deployed along the afghan border and to go for haqqanis will mean to pull some of the troops from the eastren border and leave it at the mercy of India, which aint goina happen in the next 2-3 decades due the obvious nature of our Ties with India.
Without the haqqanis onboard the Peace Bargain which Nato will eventually put up to the Talibans Terms cannot be agreed upon atleast not by Islamabad.Untill the Summer 2011 the Nato will try its level best to push the surge to its max so that it may eventually negotiate some juice in the Final Afghan gameplay.
However it has been made clear from the PA that it wont go against the Haqqanis and will only resort to Drone Strikes and Intelligance saring against them.

Talk to the Haqqanis, before it's too late

I dont know and frankly dont care too much. This whole tet-a-tet between Pakistana nd US is like watching a movie with a bag of popcorn and a bottle of coke.

I do wish for this movie to end in a particular way, but hey, why spoil the suspense. We will enjoy it whatever way it unfolds while focussing on better things in life.
