Nationwide survey: PM’s decision to hold foreign, defence portfolio appreciated
By PPI Published: August 27, 2013
ISLAMABAD:
According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 54% Pakistanis are happy about Nawaz Sharif’s decision to retain control of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defence.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “Some people think that Nawaz Sharif’s decision to retain control of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defence was the right decision whereas others think otherwise. What do you say?” Responding to this, 54% said right decision and 33% said wrong decision. 13% chose not to respond.

Unsurprisingly, the data reveals that support for the Prime Minister’s decision is higher among PML-Q (74%) and PML-N (66%) voters as compared to PPP (34%) and MQM (23%) supporters.
The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2661 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, between June 10, 2013 and June 17, 2013.

NS is a politician and not a statesman, thus keeping foreign ministry with himself will call for perpetual disaster in our foreign policy. This does not endorse previous FM as well. FM should be a person who can communicate assertively with international community keeping within the norms of diplomacy and respect. He should be well versed with geopolitical situation of the WORLD and has to capability to analyse it. It is a full time job which when kept with PM will get effected adversely.

Likewise, NS is a businessman and keeping defence ministry with himself will not allow the right advice coming to him. His decision will always be influenced by his investments. Like in the present case where India is very aggressive in its comments on LOC affairs, whereas he is very apologetic. This is an example and not a cue to start an altogether different discussion on what is going on LOC and who is responsible.

Sirtaj Aziz along with Fatami are the one basically running Foreign Office, Nawaz is just a symbolic FM

Sirtaj Aziz is the real man running the foreign affairs and as a result, now a clear shift in Pakistan's foreign policy towards neutrality is evident.

Nothing's gonna change on ground! Since independence, Pakistan's foreign affairs and defence has always been the sole prerogative of the PA. Whatever Nawaz does will look good only on paper. The real puppet masters will always be the PA.

Again that typical ranting.................. never mind.

I am sure most of them wouldn't even know about the basic functioning of these ministries.

Stupid Pakistanis.

Then prove me wrong! :pop:
Well does that matter? I means I always find it amazing that Indians always work with borrowed opinions.

Another interesting survey
