Retired Lt Gen Nasser Khan Janjua, who currently serves as the Prime Minister's special adviser on national security, on Monday said the United States (US) seems to be "speaking India's language" and that the two nations have "the same ideas" regarding the Kashmir conflict.

While addressing a seminar on the national security policy in Islamabad, Janjua complained: "The US is willing to give India a bigger role in Afghanistan while blaming Pakistan for its own failure in the region."

"India was given clear preference over Pakistan by the US," he said, even though India "continuously threatens" conventional war with Pakistan.

"The US accuses Pakistan of having ties with the Haqqani network and the Taliban when, in actuality, Pakistan only started facing terrorism when it aligned its forces with the US," Janjua said, adding that Pakistan had paid a heavy price in its fight against terrorism but the world never recognised its losses.

During his address, Janjua also claimed the US has also opposed the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

"The US wants imbalance in the region to ensure that China does not rise and that there is no resurgence of Russian powers in the region," he added.

"Pakistan has defeated the enemy's dangerous goal by defeating terrorism," he continued, alluding to an unidentified enemy. "Today, Balochistan is once again ringing with slogans of jeevay jeevay Pakistan (long live Pakistan)."

However, the adviser concluded that there is still a long way to go as the Taliban in Afghanistan are becoming stronger and India is accumulating more and more weapons.

I hope the idiots in our establishment realise this and instead of worshipping USA, they start believing in one God.

Strange in almost 5 years of this gov only now some form of diplomacy is being done. How pathetic and late.
There is nothing strange about it, just tell me who is not in power? I think we don't need leaders just a dump Gov as we have currently.

USA is hard at work but USA is working too hard and will expire before it achieves it's objective.

This seems more of an indictment of a failed Pakistani foreign policy than anything else, according to basic tenets of international geopolitics.

No, you need a very very strong representation on the international arena! 5 years have come to end for this gov with nothing to present and fighty Pakistan's case is the reason why things are the way they are. just look at Turkey their strength in leadership has made stronger because they presented their case and fought for it diplomatically.

Far too much water has passed beneath the bridges for Pakistan.

Well you have a valid point but some times it is better to enjoy the calm and a scared Gov. Any ways a strong leadership is good to have but some time it better to have a scared Gov that follow public in a straight line. dynamics have changed. People can change but khaslat and habits cannot. This Gov is scared currently as their very core is under a shadow of collapsing foundations they are currently very cautious in taking steps and that is some thing very relaxing. They sometime tend to be naughty but mostly very cautious of backlash.

On the world stage we do need effective leadership I will agree with that as troubles are also knocking our door and we cannot stay away from that for too long.

A weak gov is the opening for the vultures to start circling, like the sudden incline in terrorism is no coincidence. A weak state attracts such menace where people in ministries are saving their ill deeds from being swept away from them. This circus needs to be culled quickly and a stable office needs to be established.

The days of having a weak gov are gone you need strong governments with stronger institutions. Rather you need hardmen at the helm of the state. weak people have no place on the frontline which is the state office.

Well said Janjua sahib, But I think Janjua sahib needs to be more actively involved with Interior Ministry to tackle domestic challenges, he has the expertise.

No amount of wizard of ozz foriegn policy will get u preference over India, fact of the matter is our regional goals lie at different paths and we must puruse our own national interests rather than seeking the approval of the Us sacrificing the interests of the Pakistani people in the process. The americans are snakes, the only thing unique in this case is we were better at playing snake than the Us hence we didnt turn into syria, libya or iraq.
