Actually, it's not given clearly as to why Feb 5th was chosen. I needed to know if there existed any significance behind using this date.

Well, I think currently the Pakistani citizens deserve more solidarity from Pakistan's govt and Pakistani Sec forces.. But meh!!!

Can anyone explain the reason behind why Jan 5th is chosen as KSD?

They have quite a few days in a calender year reserved for Kashmir. Solidarity day, black day, blue day, this day, that day & all that malaki. Just wish them happy returns of the day & many more to come!

Kashmir Day was first observed in 1990 on call of Nawaz Sharif, who was the opposition leader and chief minister of Punjab at the time. Sharif appealed for a nationwide strike to protest against the Indian occupation of Kashmir and called for people to pray for the Kashmiri freedom movement’s success. The Pakistan People’s Party then declared February 5 as a public holiday and Kashmir Day has since been observed every year.

it's a regularly held event so it doesnt make difference on which media reports what about it...
