That is the point, its a local perception which depends on context. The environment were always peaceful over here until the British came.

Jilapi is the same and a common dish over here. Didn know that was Persian as we make so much sweets.
Imarti's are also prepared but not so popular as the Jilapi and Rosgollas.

What seems to me so weird is that we make procession with the mask and picture/dummy of different animal what is the relation of this to new year celebration ?

Apart from that crocodile/boat combined picture organized by the Awami Leaguers, most of other dummies seem to me quite innocent. These were derived out of small desires to please the audience and nothing of the sort so many people are trying to imply here.

I can still remember the days when the Mollahs oppsed the introduction of Qur'an recitation in the TV and radio. They were giving many excuses. Note that birds and animals have always been drawn on papers or made with clay soil by our village artisans since time immemorial. In the Melas usualy the small children uy these. No one has ever cited religious and said that these are against certain religion.

Let, people, specially the young children, participate and enjoy melas and festivals without a hitch. These festivals are mostly to make the children happy. These activities have a local touch without any religion in it. Why some of us try so hard to find religion in these festivals?

Islam does recognize other religion as well as non believer. So there should not be any rift but once you are in Islam then certain laws does apply to you. Its not easy to be a muslim.

In all religions, the religious directions are maintained.

I am aware that it is difficult to be a true Muslim since in Islam most of the activities of man is codified.

Therefore, it is moot point if anyone can claim that he/she has not erred in strictly following all the codes throughout one's lifetime.

Well as you are mentioning wahabis, you should know little more how actually Islam recognize differing opinions. There is Quran which only gives you instruction but not the way you perform. Then there are Hadith which explains little more about Quran. The rest is left out to the Fikah which means consensus among Islamic scholars. So there are things which differs from scholars to scholars and society to society and which is OK. If somebody come across with differing opinion with any subject matter then the instruction is he/she accept any of the opinion in his/her own will and follow that and will be acceptable to almighty. Islam alwasy says that everybody should avoid Fesad which we ignorant always fail to do.

Quaran gives the instructions but the Sunnah gives the clarifications.

lah Almighty says in the Quran what means::
“[[We sent them] with clear proofs and written ordinances. And We revealed to you the message that you may make clear to the people what was sent down to them and that they might give thought.]” (An-Nahl 16:44)

Commenting on this verse, Imam Al-Baghawi, one of the well-versed scholars of Islam, said in his tafseer:
"The message — in the verse — refers to the divine inspiration. And the Prophet is the clarifier of the divine inspiration. The explanation of the Quran is to be sought in the Sunnah." (Al-Baghawi 25)

Thus, the relation between the Quran and the Sunnah is such that the latter is a clarification of the former. The Sunnah explains and interprets the Quran. It gives more details about what is concisely mentioned in the Quran, especially when it comes to legal rulings. Many laws, as well as acts of worships, are briefly mentioned in the Quran. Then, the Sunnah elaborates on such items and gives more details and explanation or interpretation.
Relationship between the Qur

One of the reasons why ijtihad was discontinued in the 10th Century was because it was felt that none would have the scholarship to interpret the laws of Islam, to put it simply.

Abbey bosri k. Aja milne, jaan hay toh. Bohot din ho gaya kisi ko marne may. Maza ah jaye ga, kasam sey. :smokin:

A true cyber warrior!

What thoughts of a person who claims to be a pious Muslim!!

Extraordinary piety, indeed!!

It also indicates the abysmal pit of sexual depravity this man can sink to!

What seems to me so weird is that we make procession with the mask and picture/dummy of different animal what is the relation of this to new year celebration ?

As weird as paying homage {ziyarah} to a grave and praying in a place where there is a grave in front of the person praying are not consistent with Tawhid in Lordship. According to them, the requisite of Tawhid is that one should not resort to the intermediation of other than God even if he is the Prophet of Islam (s), because tawassul, shafa'ah {intercession} and the like are outside the Sunnah of the Prophet and the pious predecessors {as-Salaf as-salih}, and the Qur'an also regards this belief as polytheism or so the Wahabis feel!!
http://www.al-islam.org/new-analysis-wahhabi-doctrines/6.htm

It is all a matter of perception!

Yes, you are bengali and we are Bangladeshi. We are the successor of warrior like Bakhtiyar Khilji and you already know what he did to your ancestor. So no Comparison between you and us.

First of all, you are a charlatan. You are no Bangladeshi since you cannot go beyond Urdu! If you live in Bangladesh, you are but an interloper seeking sanctuary.

Oh sure.

And you are a direct descendent of Genghiz Khan?

Or maybe the Slave dynasty!

Your language and crude expletives does indicate your proud heritage!

I agree that one would be quite ashamed to have any linkage with such a person's heritage whose heritage encourage a steep dip into profanities and crudeness.

And people here were talking that religion gives morality!!

i agree with al zakir. he is the living decedent of bakhtiar khalji. :) i am living decedent of tamerlane.

btw bengalis are celebrating this learning from india.
