Your northern areas are similar to our norther areas . Maharashtra has hill stations but no snow peaked mountains , we have them in our north .

But govt. officials in Maharashtra are awesome . They have banned even vehicles in some of these beautiful areas . So only way to go there is either by horses or trekking or toy train (matheran) .

Yea, its good that government is taking actions to keep this areas clean. Even steps are taken to make sure that people do not throw plastic wastes in these kind of areas.. Our Kerala is also blessed with areas like this.. We have back waters also but due to lot of tourists, most of the places are filled with plastics and other wastes.

Planning a kerela Bike trip from kasargod to Ooty later this year or maybe early next year . All of kerela on bike in a week or so .

Try it on March/April... Due to Mansoon, roads here in Kerala is a mess right now.. Hope it will get repaired by then...Most of the schools are closed due to heavy rain.. If you want to enjoy mansoon, this is the right time
