I think Indian section should be closed till election, Even Bangladesh section looks sober these days

Our section used to have good discussions with Sancho, Prateek, DBC, Spark, Abing, Skulls etc etc.. Now it is going to become a joke section of PDF with FEKU and PAPPU fans..

@Oscar, well well, apparently the 82Kn figure has finally been reached since the QC/QR (required for full optimization) for complex airfoil castings for the Kaveri turbine using the Nickel base alloy CM247LC and Ti26A (Ti685) discs have finally been met. The castings are hollow with internal cooling channels and have to meet very stringent dimensional, micro-structural, chemical and porosity requirements. This is one of the most complex processing steps, each requiring a very strict control. Also investment casting facility is finally up and running. One is boggled by the sheer effort required to take resultant products of successful R&D and translate them to a product which can be fabricated in a reliable industrial process. The certification, setting up of processes and manufacturing guidelines seems to take longer than the R&D and initial prototype fab itself.

And then people berate the Chinese. The problem was always going to be metallurgy. Yet, the engine seems to be out of the question for the LCA and is now best suited IMHO for a LIFT or UCAV. I wonder though, if they can use the core in a different application? Perhaps in the Railways?(Although that would make for one noisy train).

The LCA is MOST definitely out of the question.

Well its sort of weird but the derived marine gas turbine has made the navy very happy, they have funded it from their own account and even provided the marine engine test bed and the results were good. 15MW at ISO. The navy is now looking to put them on the corvette size ships.

Most definitely the UCAV for now. Thankfully the whole process of certification, integration and MRO will now be accrued by GTRE.
