Sufis follow islam to the letter, they are like the sages of Islam, that is why not everyone can be a Sufi. They don't look like they follow it but they do you just see more of the spiritual side of Islam through them.

I don't follow Islam to the letter, I am a humble sinner. Even the sufis follow the rules though more strictly then the normal folk, what part of Sufism is breaking the rules?
