There was a time when i used to dislike Modi , then i came on this forum and saw how much Pakistanis hated him. I realised something must be good about him .

Though I, too, am a little apprehensive about Modi, but we need to look beyond symbolism. Modi's failure in Gujarat, would have been perceived as a referendum on his hindutva agenda and as a symbol of sympathy with the minority community.

However, true sympathy can only be shown only through sustainable and inclusive development. And although there are already loopholes in Modi's gujarat story (with minorities not being showered with the development goodies), he does appear to have a formula for growth, which in the long run will not only benefit his votebank but also the naysayers.

How difficult it is for ppl to comprehend that while we are sitting on armchairs and typing venom at each other the ppl of Gujarat have a life to live.

They unlike us have risen from the shackles of the past and voted for progress & prosperity. I do not love Modi or what happened in Gujarat yet I cannot help but appreciate what he has done to bring his state to where it now is.

Religion & history are for those who have the time to enjoy this luxury. For the rest daily life takes precedence.

Only the people of Gujarat have the right to elect who ever they wish to. No one else have any right. The people there chose who they think is best for them.

Whether they are proved right or wrong, is something only time will tell.
