Narendra Modi wishes Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif a happy birthday, prays for his long life
New Delhi, December 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday morning surprised everyone by wishing his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif on his birthday. With the latest development, PM Modi’s wishes on Pak PM’s birthday could also be seen as a positive start between the two big leaders of India and Pakistan, where the diplomatic level talks have almost ended for over a year.
As it was expected, PM Modi on Sunday morning after sharing a couple of tweets and wishing a long life for former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who also marks his 92nd birthday today tweeted, “Wishing our most beloved & widely respected Atal ji a happy birthday. I pray that he is blessed with good health and a long life”. Soo after wishing Atal Bihari Vajpayee, PM Modi tweeted, “Birthday wishes to Pakistan PM Mr Nawaz Sharif. I pray for his long and healthy life”.
Today on December 25, Nawaz Sharif turns 67 and last year same day PM Modi surprised the world when he personally visited Pakistan to wish Nawaz Sharif on his 66th birthday. PM Modi visited Raiwand, in Lahore, at Nawaz Sharif’s residence where he met several Pakistani leaders including Sharif, which also gave a hope of strengthening diplomatic ties between both the nation.
But a week after PM Modi’s visit bilateral talks between India and Pakistan got cancelled due to Pathankot terror attack in which seven Indian soldiers were killed and later it was found that the terrorists involved in the attack were supported by Pakistan’s home-grown terror outfit. Today’s development may give a ray of hope between the weakening relationship between India and Pakistan.
Nawaz Sharif was born on 25 December 1949. He is the 18th and Prime Minister of Pakistan in office since June 2013.
Coincidentally on December 25, founder of Pakistan, Mohamed Ali Jinnah was also born due to which this day is celebrated across Pakistan as a national day. Today marks 140th birth anniversary of the father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah which is widely celebrated across Pakistan. Muhammad Ali Jinnah famously known as Quaid-e-Azam was born on December 25, 1876, in Karachi.
