Before the afghan war and maddrassas we had afghan secular nationalists who waged war against Pakistan because they want to unite pashtun lands, during afghan jihad its a fact Pakistan/usa/saudi spent billions upon billions to promote the jihadi ideology to defeat Ussr in Afghanistan, deobandis was promoted as a state policy from Pakistan, many of Pakistani generals joined the movement. Today those same mujahdeens are fighting Pakistan. Its easier to blame Afghanis or pashtuns but they were brainwashed. Before most of them were just sunni Muslims or secular nationalists.

In my opinion Pakistan establishment tried to promote jihadi ideology to counter the secular nationalists but that too backfired. The Afghans think of Pakistani army as usa agents so many militants are waging a jihadi war, Pakistan army also didn't help themselves by aligning with the USA and bombing Afghanistan, then allowing 400 drone attacks which killed militants but also 1000s of innocents. The bigger question is why did Pakistan army bend over backwards for the USA, where is usa today? Iran stayed out of the war and Pakistan too should have. We can hate afghanis and swear at them but this will again be shooting ourselves in the foot, rather than following a policy of winning them over, we just like to screw everyone. The same way we had millions of youths who loved Pakistan and Pakistan army but somehow they had to screw them over aswell, now cry traitors to everyone.
