New Delhi: In an interview that is likely to upset and even annoy the government at the Centre and which starkly reveals the sharp differences that are still separating the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah) from the Indian government, the general secretary of the NSCN (I-M) has repeatedly and forcefully said that the Nagas will never be part of the Indian Union nor will they accept India’s constitution.

Why would any one join facist country ?

Its stupid.

Precisely, india is part of the British legacy some nations e.g NE states, Kashmir , Tamilnadu , Goa etc were forced to join indian union.

Loigically, india is a country for the Hindi speaking states only , they being the majority (approximate 30 % of the indian pop ) have legitamise hindi hegemony on non hindi speaking states.

Pakistan and China are not enemies of non hindi speaking states e.g Tamils have historicaly being at war with neighbouring Sinhalas but never with Chinese whereas the opposite is true for the other Indians.

Nagalim: Request for Peace Talks to Take Place in a Third Country

General Secretary of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-IM) and key proponent of the Naga peace process Thingeleng Muivah has requested that future peace talks take place in a third country. In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narenda Modi, the NCSN(IM) chief negotiator Muviah wrote: “In order to save the political dialogue, the talks should resume at a Prime Minister’s level, without pre-condition and outside India in a third country”. The revealing of the letter to the public and the request to shift negotiations to a third country comes at a time when the Naga peace process has been stuck within a lengthy impasse.

This is moving in the direction of renewed insurgency and an armed conflict.

Nope. Locals don't support insurgency now. A powerful naga civil society organization has more influence on a average naga now than this foreign based terrorist.
But i might be wrong, since religion is a powerful intoxicant and 95 % nagas are Christians. Never underestimate the effect of religion in our part of the world.
Also the wire seems to be on a mission nowadays, first the Pakistani advisor interview and now this guy .
For the uninitiated, thapar is related to the nehru family. His father Gen thapar was appointed by nehru to face the Chinese in 62 and resigned after India's defeat . A child of nepotism and incompetence.

Given they are completely landlocked it will be difficult for them to sustain an insurgency. They may get some support from china i suppose.

Agreed to the religion part. Wire is a left mouthpiece, diametrically opposite to a republic TV. Thapar maybe a product of nepotism, but someone’s gotta ask them questions.

TheWire was started in 2015 , a few months after bjp was elected. I would support it but countering channels like republictv by taking a totally one sided position is not independent journalism. Its a political position.
The interesting fact about the spate of these new news portals like wire, print, etc is that all are-
Started after bjp came into power in 2014.
All started by the usual suspects from the hindu, ndtv, bbc, etc , basically anti bjp constituents.
All have foreign connections , mostly uk or usa based , not fully indigenous.
No funding issues , when news channels are in abundance.

So lets not brand them independent channels, just anti bjp channels. Though they frequently get confused and mix anti bjp with being anti Indian.

India: Comparison of Nagalim with Sri Lanka Tamil Eelam Negotiations
Naga-Protest_20190925_402_602.jpg

As a student of South Asia, I have watched the negotiations in Sri Lanka between Tamil Elam chief negotiators Anton Balasingham with Eric Solheman, the Norwegian negotiator for the Sinhala group. In between the talks, there were Elam wars and IPKF and a whole lot of twists and turns in the Tamil Eelam drama. This story finally ended with a military victory of Sinhala Armed forces over LTTE.

A similar story of negotiations and armed conflict is being watched with Nagaland and India. While the Indian position in Nagaland is part of India, the Nagaland spokesperson says that Nagaland is a separate country. This comes out clearly after watching the interview of Isac Muvia, the undisputed leader of the main insurgent group NSCN(IM) of Nagaland. Hearing him, I have a feeling that any time, the talk will break and India is going to take a final call on Nagaland, and Muvia’s militia is going to take on Indian soldiers as was the case with the LTTE in Srilanka.

Now, these are very hard positions that India cannot accept. The only option for India is to assert its state power and military might to officially merge Nagaland into the Indian Union. The option for Muvia is to go back to insurgency as it was the order before 1997.

The catch here is Naga insurgency is sustained by China and its newfound opportunity for China to open another front. There is also a Christian angle and an American angle to the Nagaland problem. It is the American protestant church that has converted the tribal and non-believers of any organized religion to the Christian fold. Just like backing Karan and Shan insurgents in Myanmar, the Christian world has backed Nagas insurgency for the right to self-determination.

India’s muscular policy on the state of Jammu and Kashmir that unfolded on August 5, 2019, was supposed to be made operational for Nagaland as well. However, India’s strategic thinkers voted against the move they wanted to wait and watch to find out the fall out of Kashmir policy which has not yet stabilized. It was further delayed due to Covid 19 pandemic.

However, now it looks that the peace talks with Nagaland are almost on breaking point will the Indian home minister use the same muscular policy that is applied on J&K on August 5, 2020. Nagaland is an interesting story that is playing itself out…

The support can not be from China.
Naga and Myanmar were same people same country before British era.
America was confirmed that it supported weapons for some separatists in Myanmar.
Separalists in Myanmar smuggle weapons across border for making money. This is logical supposition.
