It's not about losing but it's about keep an eye on things. We can't be blind and say PTI is clean from corrupt as we have same ministers in PTI that were serving PPP and PMLN.

problem is concept of taxation is foreign to Pakistanis..after all our tax to gdp ratio is the lowest in the region
i wont be surprised that a revolution sweeps IK away if he asks for taxation..

the only people who pay tax are illiterate poor laborers who buy milk, sugar and wheat

Agreed, I've seen people straight from Pakistan, engage in tax fraud when they go abroad. The rest of the modern world pays taxes, all of our income is declared and clearly visible to the relevant government agencies, etc. It's a pain, but this is how we have free k-12 public school education, roads, police, all sorts of government organizations that make the country work, the worlds most power military (I'm in the US).

If you take a look at rates for gas, electricity, etc in India and Bangladesh, they are very similar, sometimes worse than Pakistan. They pay more tax there than they do in Pakistan. Yet I don't see any of the Indians or Bengali's screaming oppression through taxation.

This asset declaration scheme will not work and I'm surprised Imran Khan hasn't realized this by now. The only thing people will understand is the danda. I think they don't deserve Imran Khan, rather they should have some of those Sudanese, African military dictators. Then these people will understand how lucky they were to have Imran Khan. Also, many of these journalists will start to miss the Pakistani military once they feel the crushing force of Arab & African militaries!

I'm shocked to see those who were supporting Imran Khan just months ago, now screaming as if they are suffering as they have never done so before. Tax minimisation, avoidance, evasion, fraud occurs everywhere, be it UK, US, Europe or anywhere else in the world. No one likes to pay tax. That is why chartered accountants exist. It's a bit naive to say otherwise.
The difference is that governments have systems in place that are effective and efficient in harvesting and collecting the tax take. This is where third world countries lag behind their first world counterparts. The informal economy has to be brought out into the open and into the tax net as much as possible and that is what the PTI government is trying to do. How far they succeed, time will tell.

If we look at US' budget deficit and defense spending than it's not wrong to say that US military is mainly running on loans not on taxpayers money

Pakistan is in no way comparable to the United States. US can maintain budget deficits and still survive and prosper. Pakistan cannot, less than 2% of the population pays taxes.

Unless Pakistani people start paying their taxes like the rest of the modern world, the country will continue begging IMF & WB, selling its citizens to foreign armies & drone strikes, and bankrupting itself in trying to survive against India, etc. You can also add not having a national education system, roads, rail networks, ports, mines, etc. You can't do anything...

First of all, I didn't compare US with Pakistan as there's no comparison to begin with. And yes US can continue spending more than it's revenue as long as world needs dollars for trade. But that doesn't change the fact that US military is being financed by loans not by taxpayers.
