Myanmar may have chemical weapons stockpile: US

Yes, and that is the moot point, isn't it. Your ancestral lands have been usurped by the colonial Bengali settlers to the extent that you are fighting for survival. Perhaps the Barua Bengali Buddhists are better off than the tribals.

Kaptai dam is just another flashpoint in the ever rising graph of tribal domination by the Bengali muslims. Why is your secular Bangladeshi government still dithering to implement the CHT accord even after two and a half decades?
I am a Barua Buddhist .

Anyways, the population of tribal Buddhists did not reduce in the CHT. Before the 1980s, CHT was sparsely populated, only few areas were populated. The government then relocated bengalis from other parts of Bangladesh. But they did not snatch homes belonging to locals.

Every tourist and picnic spots in the CHT were made on barren, unused lands.

large scale migration also took place from CHT. I know many chakma who have their homes in CHT but is working in Dhaka. During vacation they spent their holidays back in their native homes.

You are wrong. We Barua Buddhists also care about our tribal Buddhist brothers.

Also we will always have soft corner for Myanmar, because of our Arakanese roots and our thousand years old history with Myanmar and Arakan.

But equally, we are proud to be Bangladeshi no matter what. I want Myanmar to prosper both economically and militarily but my nation is also equally important.

Cheers.

That was evident from your posts.

The same story of Tripura and Assam being played in CHT, nothing surprising there.

CHT was declared an autonomous region as early as the mid 1800s by the British, the status quo changed first by Pakistan and maintained by Bangladesh. How the the tribal population there reach to under 10 pc from around 90, ever gave that a thought? Orchestrated violence by state apparatus and language imposition by the Bengali muslims dealt the final blow after forceful eviction via short-sighted projects.

Of course, Chakmas are expected to go to Dhaka for lack of opportunities in their region devoid of development. You will find the persecuted Chakma refugees seeking shelter in Tripura, Mizoram, Assam etc going to Delhi and Kolkata for a better life. That is a natural course of life, but it doesn't obfuscate the trauma they underwent at the hands of Bengali muslims.

Except Tripura Chakmas are pesecuted all over India.
CHT development is barred by tribes themselves. They dont want the serenity to be destroyed by development. But Chakmas are the most wealthiest people among NE india and CHT. You will die five times to be a Chakma.

Who told you this brother. Tribals still constitutes around 60 to 65% of the total population of CHT. In the local election, you will find only tribal candidates.

Also, there is something called land commission in CHT. No outsider can buy land in CHT without permission from the tribal committee. But tribals can buy land anywhere in other parts of Bangladesh.

Moreover you were wrong when you said that there are no development in CHT. Recently our PM inaugurated a hospital, medical college and University in CHT. CHT is a very distant place. You can't compare cht with Dhaka or Chittagong. There are many parts of Bangladesh which are also underdeveloped.

Also BD will construct 317 of roads in CHT by 2021 to provide greater border security, trade, commerce and tourism facilities.

Thanks for the unbiased insights into the life in CHT and not giving into propaganda from outsiders.

CHT is indeed very remote and difficult to build infrastructure. I have been to Bandarban and Rangamati, and to be honest it wasn't much different in development than some regions in Northern Bangladesh.

At the end of the day, we are Bangladeshis, it's our land irrespective of what religion or ethnicity we have. As you mentioned in another post, I understand your sympathy for Burma, just like we have for Muslim countries including Pakistan, but always be proud that Bangladesh is your land.
