My take on Punjab Police after personally dealing with them

From today onward I have decided I won't complain about How Punjab Police works. Because sorry the environmental conditions they work in are beyond disastrous. I work in PU and my office looks like Palace if compared to many Police stations in Lahore. From no AC Dala to disastrous Police Station buildings to 12 to 14 hour duty time. Not to forget even weapons which are given are ancient and less ammunition. Sorry if you really expect them to perform after that than you have lost your brain. All Hail Shabaz Shareef.

They are not wasting first they don't get much budget which they do the political intervention is so much they are not allowed to spend budget on real things. Shabaz Shareef and his sons decides which SHO will get deployed where do you think they would let them spent budget on their own will.

The Problem in Punjab is that each minister has his own favourite SHO , DSP , ASP which carries out their dirty work which includes land grabbing and killings. They need a Police like KP where no political interferance is tolerated.

Police needs to be reforms, restructure, give basic to advance infrastructure,mindset change,more people to police interaction,morals need to be improved and we need SYSTEM and Non Politicalize them.
We need Advance Face recognition, fingerprint,criminal record system available easy for police.

Give them the facilities they need and I would tell you half of the behavior would change automatically. Even right now I have noticed they listen to you give you attention which they possibly can in this disastrous condition

When I criticise Punjab police, I'm very clear about my target..i.e. the bureaucracy and political govt/administration. I know many in Punjab police were not ready to fire on the innocent people in Model town but the orders came from above and Mushtaq Sukhera forced the soldiers to do that. This qatil is responsible along with Shabhaz and Rana Sana... The trio should be hanged publicly.

Despite the soldiers suffering and working in harsh environment, their officers live in big Bungalows spread over kanals and acres of lands with plenty of soldiers working as their servants instead of doing their normal duties.
In addition to these official perks and privileges, Punjab police extorts money, accepts bribes, supports criminals and oppresses the good people among civilians and within the force.

One of the root causes of illnesses in Punjab police are political appointments. PMLn has been a in power for almost 30 years in Punjab and SS destroyed the bureaucracy and especially the police by appointing his political workers and his supporters at key positions in police who in turn ensure that all officers under their commands are also supporters of SS and thus most of the cases are decided based on political interests. So an honest and impartial officer cannot survive in this ocean of cronies so either he has to submit and do as he is told to or just leave the job and settle outside the country.

Fake encounters, among many heinous crimes fake encounters are the worst and under Shahbaz Shareef it has been turned into a culture. Not just criminals, but minor offenders and political opponents are often killed in fake encounters. This promotes lawlessness and fear reigns supreme in the hearts of the people.

I have a lot of bureaucrats in my family and many of them left country because they couldn't cope with the bullying and pressure to become a part of their superior crimes... One of them has an FIR in fake case of murder registered against him when he didn't succumb to the pressure. Two of his brothers were killed by the police. He is now a full professor of electrical engineering at a famous US university. He really misses Pakistan. A very kind and loving guy, respected by his fellows for his knowledge and social work.

I can swear that SS has committed hundreds of murders through fake encounters and I knew it much before Abid Boxer confessed or Model Town massacre happened.

I wanted to write a piece on this that what and which units we need... we should follow italian model of police reform combined with some uk police induction method.

Janab the kind of environment they are working in these are the only results you would get. Their working conditions are beyond disastrous.

KPK police model is good enough. Just remove political, incompetent and corrupt officers and soldiers from the police. Make it independent, use IT and make the law of right to information ...and you will see a difference of heavens and earth within a few months.

I have been to many areas. And sorry but many have improved a lot. At least sitting environment of their offices is much much much better and also the buildings but Police that is in total mess
