Muslims, how many kilos do you lose during Ramzan?

Guys, I'm doing a survey for a sports group I belong to.

Its about this new fad of Intermittent Fasting, where you fast for 16 hours, and eat in a 8 hour window.

Sounds pretty similar to what many of you would be doing during Ramzan, though Im guessing the fasted period would be about 15 hours max? 4 am to 7 pm?

So I would really appreciate it if you could let me know your experience. Any weight lost? How much? Has it remained the same year on year? Do you tend to eat more than normal when you can? Binge eating?

On an average how many kilos would you lose in the month? And what is your base weight?

Most people I know gain weight, I lose weight, however. I'm thin so I'll lose maybe a kilo or two and largely stay close to same weight. I do not binge eat, its not healthy, first thing is to eat salad for fiber and drink water. Later at night I eat more. I eat less in Ramadan, time window for food is limited. Time window depends on where one lives, it's around 17 hrs plus where I am.

kid! we dont do it for weight loss we do it for Allah who is the Master of all.

He knows that, but some people are just curious about side effects of fasting.

Losing weight in Ramadan is a myth... At least among current Muslims of our time...

Honestly a lot of it is genetic. Some people I know just gain wieght more easily. And they don't binge eat.

You can invade a muslim country in ramadan and take advantage man. Whose stopping you?

It's good for you only if you don't eat like a pig in between fasting hours. Do it properly, and you will lose any excess weight as well as boost your testosterone.

So even a 17 hour fasted period does not result in weight loss. Interesting!

Are there a lot of carbs in the food?

Theory of IF revolves around insulin and carb (and fat) metabolism.

I was wondering (hoping) that just the lengrhened fasted period without diet modification could give results.

No.

And what is your base weight?
85 Kg [spread on medium 6ft frame] with average 20% fat index which is good for my age - 56. More then my weight I am concerned about my fat index %.

And I swear I notice most people gain weight during Ramazan. As they spurge on food/sweets/cakes/drinks and drugs.

Actually that eating window destroys the other fasting window in terms of weight loss. If weghtloss is the goal, then better way is to keep the belly full with low calorie stuff all the time.

Man its about diet.. we eat too much at time of breaking fast that diminishes all effect of fasting.. plus we eat fried things with some sugar meals like fruits, shorbet beasides main meal... i think easily that crosses 3000k cal...

The Isha doesn't help either... Rarely in my life I came across families who eat very little in Ramadan, like it should be...Most of the time it's more than an entire normal day of meals...
Muslim should feel a bit of Hunger after breaking their fast... Not feeling full...

This (regular intermittent small snack/meals instead of few larger meals) is exactly what IF claims you should NOT do. Because of constant insulin spiking. And storage of unused carbs in the cells as fat.

IF works on exhausted glycogen stores and insulin over 12 hours, after which autophagy takes over. Which is, your body eats it's fat stores for energy.

I don't lose weight since I don't fast. I used to fast few times when I was in Bangladesh...like 5-7 days out of 30 days. Don't remember losing weight.
And what is your base weight?
50 kg. Stays within 48-52 kg.
