The stoning to death is a punishment specifically for sex outside marriage i.e adultery, and nothing else. Even sex before marriage does not carry the same punishment as after, and there is a reason for it. So even if she was punished under the pretext of Shariah, it's the wrong punishment. Islam prescribes death punishment in very few cases, and this ain't one of them.
