NEW DEHLI: A 22-year old Muslim, Rahat Khan, has been arrested for a Facebook posting against Uttar Pradesh’s chief minister Yogi Adityanath in Greater Noida area.

A complaint was lodged by the supporters of Yodi Adityanath against Khan for posting an ‘objectionable’ image of Yogi on Facebook.

“Rahat Khan has posted morphed image of the newly elected chief minister and captioned it with ‘Yogi hai, ya bhogi hai’ on his Facebook wall,” said Rajpal Tomar, the station house officer of Dankaur police station.

However, Rahat Khan’s mother stated that his son is innocent. She further said, “our family is involved in several social service activities. We have even won applauds from Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself for raising the issue of triple talaq.”

She blamed land mafia for framing his son.

The 44-year-old Adityanath, known as a ‘firebrand Hindu leader’, is the head priest of Gorakhpur’s influential Gorakhnath shrine. Since his election, India’s status as a secular state has been questioned.

Yes, earlier one Muslim boy issued a death warning to Modi. Police caught him. It was a serious crime and punishable with sever punishment. Modi inquired about his back ground. He was an engineering student. Modi called his parents. he told them to take care of their boy so that he may not fall into wrong hand. Boy's parents were very apologetic. Judiciary / Army etc. are off-limits for ridiculing. No one will ever accept ridiculing of an army Jawan laying his life for the home country. There are laws for that and people abusing will be brought before courts to face the local laws.

Politicians are however an exception, they must face being ridiculed (unlike in India).

AS sad as this development is there is some comfort in knowing this practice is quite secular. Plenty of hindus have also been harassed for speaking out against ministers, MPs and government policies. The case of the two girls in Bombay some 4-5 years ago is testament to this, as was the hounding of a college professor in bengal for sharing a joke about the CM.
